Well im going to be laying now speaker wires and was thinking while i have the carpet out i might aswell lay down some dynamatt and found this stuff http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10-sq-ft-FATMAT-X ... 845wt_1165 How much would i be needing?
I would be doing pretty much the whole car like all floors inside doors and boot and stuff

You'll need about 5 rolls at a guess to do the whole car. You know it will make your car alot heavier?

I done this years ago. My advice would be to use abit on the inner panels and boot lid, but don't get carried away, these aren't flimsy cars so don't bother with the floors or trying to cover every inch of the doors etc. Just abit on each panel make a big difference. Buy 2 rolls and see how you get on.

Go round the your car and knock each panel with your knuckle, you'll find the floors make a thud while the doors and bootlid make more of a ding. Measure the area where it dings and cover 45-75% of it. The rolls are 18"x80".

Check sounddeadenershowdown.com before you purchase any of these products. If you use dynamat or an alternate product, also buy what this website calls Mass Loaded Vinyl Barrier. I've used a lot of dynamat, alternative product named vibroplast and heavy asphalt mat. Although music sounds really good now and when closing doors or bootlid the closing sound is very solid-like, i'm still disappointed. Still i get wind noise and there isn't a feeling of total isolation when driving. To eliminate these this website recommends MLVB. This is usually cheaper than butyl mats and should be used as much as possible. Little dynamat and a lot of MLVB. Good option would be Splen from standardplast.lv.

I'm not sure if its the same stuff but I have used something like this on a job I did insulating and soundproofing a whole house... The stuff weighed ALOT... I could only carry one roll at a time, so if its anything like that then your gonna be adding alot of weigh to your car.

How come you want to do the whole car?

Butyl mats aren't that heavy and for example Splen should be very light. What i've read, it's very similar to a mat that you put under your sleeping bag when sleeping in a tent. A tent mat? Asphalt mat is cheap but really heavy and a real pain to install. Cannot do anything without a heat gun. Shouldn't be installed to vertical surfaces at all. In wintertime it's also very brittle and the glue can fail. If installed in door cards and door cards have to be removed for some reason when weather is cold, usually they break into pieces. I've read stories that asphalt mat has been installed against metal and few years later the result is pretty bad when moisture has gotten between the mat and metal.

I used to us aluminum flashing 17quid a roll, not as great as dyno mat but you get what you pay for.
It did the job for me fine. I did a mk2 golf the entire car lol.
