Hey chaps, I've done a bit of an intro in the new members section.. But I'll ainly be camping here.. I'm building a low power (aiming for 250ish hp, but response and torque are more important than power for me for now)

Anyhoo, I've managed to source a 324td turbo and manifold.. which arrived yesterday, and I'm looking at the turbo wondering what it'll be like. I can't find sweet FA on it, but if anyone knows different, I'd be grateful! (I know it's a mitsi/IHI TD04-011) TBH, I was expecting a small spec T3. Mani is a split t3 outlet, so I'll go HX35 eventually.

This is to small, it´s designed to flow for a 130hp diesel. You´ll strangle your B25 engine with this.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

I know... I might try and run it for a bit of fun though.

Don´t do it.
It´s BAD BAD BAD BAD.

There is nothing fun about reverse flowing extremely hot gases back into the engine cause the turbo is blocking the flow.. It´s hello Detville and Knock City.

In full agreement with Gunni on this. That really is a tiny turbine you have there Ti22, it's designed for flowing a lot less gas than your petrol engine will try and put through it. There's nothing fun about welding your exhaust pipe almost closed, and attaching such a dreadful restriction to your exhaust manifold isn't much different. Sorry to p!ss on your battery, but better to start looking for a better turbo from the get-go to go with your new manifold. Should save you money in the long term as well since you won't risk the damage to your engine that Gunni mentioned.

Cheers guys, I know I need a bigger one to run with.. just might plug it in for 5 mins so I have some personal experience of it.

As it's designed for a diesel engine with the same capacity I can't see why in theory it cant be used up to the maximum revs of the diesel engine (4K ish) - if you ignore the fact that it's designed to run at lower temps than I will put into the turbine in this application.

Getting it running is a way away off yet anyhow..

Wasting time building a downpipe for that thing is one of the reasons to skip it.

The diesel of same capacity just breathes totally different to a petrol engine.
You can run this turbo below the M20B25´s torque peak, so sub 3500rpm,
But that in itself is a total waste of time.

Bin it.

Dude, you'd be wise to take the advice of these two, have a scout around this section and it will soon become apparent why :thumb:

Well.. just bought a holset HX35(W) on the bay.. 12cm3 housing.

I'd love to try the std tubby but it's not worth the time and effort fitting it to find out what is obvious.

Sorry to anyone else that wanted the turbo!

Seriously thinking about the WAR chip and MAF conversion and bigger injectors from miller to run it all. Looks like a nice, proven and efficient setup.

Thanks for the input guys...

James
