BMW LSDs e34 to e36

am i right in thinking that an e34 525 lsd unit can be fitted into an e36 6pot open diff if so does anyone know wot is involved in doing so ???? . i am only thinking about it as i have been offered a 525i sport as a spare engine for my e30 . it would be a bonus if the diff was any good for our 323 e36

if they're both 188mm units then yes.
the gear meshing and bearing preload will need to be set up properly though which is not straightforward.
