How much have you got to spend and what's the main reason you want them?

"best" means different things to different people, some people may say a roll Royce phantom is the best car in the world, others the maclaren f1, but it's no point suggesting either if you can only afford a fiesta
cheers,

I would like to here the options. I run nearly new H&R prog rate springs at the minute. Lovely ride not bumpy or crashy. Lovely in the bends too. I have been daydreaming about coilovers. I would like to be able to set the car at exactly the height I want. Not slammed at 60mm but a bit lower than 40mm maybe. I want the car to be comfy but handle as it is now. Any surgestions. :D

Best affordable ones I've seen and had experience with that give good adjustability and ride comfort as well as good handling so far are BC racing coilovers. Best no money spared option are obviously Ground-control, Leda, GAZ etc.

BCs are weld on; mate supplies them for about 800 euro ready to fit on your own struts in exchange basis or 750 or something like that for just supplying the coil-overs to weld on yourself.

Gaz are about a 1000 pounds I think. They used do the cheaper kit for road use but discontinued it so only offfer the Gold ones now.

The GC are about the same and in my opinion they look the best for quality as the GAZ ones leave a little to be desired in the top-mounts.

I can't really comment on either though as I've only seen GAZ coil-overs in person and have only seen them fitted to the car and I don't even know anybody around that has a GC kit.

They do look very good and decent price too but only thing is I'd like if they had camber adjustable top-mounts and wondering are they butt welded to the bottom of the stub or do you leave abit on the strut so it slides into the coil-over threaded sleeve abit for added strength.

It looks like RPM got GAZ to do the roadspec kit for them after they discontinued it themselves 8)

Yeah, just ask about how the strut is welded on. The BC coils have a threaded sleeve that you take off the shock and that you weld to the strut which you cut down with leaving a few inches at the base.
The sleeve then slips down over this and you weld all around the bottom and then screw in the shock afterwards again.

The RPM/GAZ one is probably the same but its just the bit that says it doesn't matter what dia. strut you have caught my attention as obviously with the BC ones, depending on your strut size, you either pick a 45 or 51mm inner dia. sleeve coil-over so that it fits over your strut.

Dezzy.. H&R coilovers will suit, similar spring rates to what I was running before my coilovers. I am not a fan of the Gaz setup, seen them forked after 6k road use on several occasions..

Either that or get the H&R springs replicated by Faulkner just 10mm shorter..

Yeh I will have to think about it. Would they be able to do prog rate string but say 45-50mm instead of 35mm. I am fitting 16" wheels so needs a little more droppage.

Would they need my H&R to replicate them. Or could they just make me some up?

Cheers guys.

I believe the rates of the H&R's are available online.. So you'd just have to spec length I was running 350lb front 580lb rear with billy dampers and it was superb for the road!

you'd be better of with roof to start.

what you want are a decent shock, progressivly wound springs and stiffer ARB's

If you have B8s and nice struts already and possibly new top-mounts, it would be a shame to get coil-overs alright.

If you can find springs that you like and made with the right drop it would be a better plan unless you really liked the idea of being able to play around with your suspension all the time which isn't really needed for a road car.

I reckon it's the way forward. I have done some digging and think I have the answer.

50mm custom springs, progresive rate. Should feel exactly the same as the H&R's. As you say I have B8's powdercoated struts, new hubs, New topmounts, WMS brakes already set up. I will use custom springs I reckon. Might even be able to offer a few it if it comes off at no more money than H&R winkeye

No it isn't.. They were sent back for a full rebuild..

Warranty doesn't stop your car being off the road if they do fail though
