Ollie, I was thinking of sorting one out for end of Feb, as alot of guys on here are eager to meet up.
Cold mind, but if everyones in agreement, then i'll have some dates thrown in for that time to keep evryone happy.

So has a venue actually been decided or not?? :?

The car park at Toby's doesnt sound great, not ever been so I suppose cant comment. I like the idea of the one near Sutton Park tbh, sounds good. A good venue would surely make a difference to how many people turn up? And from my own perspective its nice to have a good drive along some nice roads before and after. Had a few good meets in the South West like that, although there seems to be more location options that are suitable down there, some nice country twisty roads an all. winkeye

Venue will be the Toby Cavery (CV7 7HL). Just need to sort out a date, as Rav said, all suggestions are welcome :)

We can always discuss a new venue at the meet 8)

It looks good empty! Perhaps we need to get there at a good time, before it gets rammed then?

With it getting dark quite quickly now, the time we go it does tend to be busy, normally around 2pm when everyone turns up.

Come May/June time, i reckon we could meet there around 4ish when it's not so busy :)

Sunday night is car night - open to all and turn up early for a decent space - used to be a haunt for cruisenotts [RIP :-(] but in the summer it gets rammed from 6pm onwards

Tons of space - the first meet we had there I think we managed to use all the spaces on the far right of the photo plus plenty of the ones opposite.

If parking might be an issue why not make the meeting a bit earlier in the day ? If we made it an 11.30 start that still means people can have a lie in and that we stand a fair chance of most of the carpark being empty when we get there ( Can't remember whether there's a barrier across the carpark - need to check first what time pub opens )

I think its a good location - end of Feb would be good - any Midlands zoners wanting to meet earlier could come to the RAF Cosford Breakfast club meet on 7th Feb :)

The point of a meet is to meet other Zoners, buy and sell parts, and basically enjoy the company, place of meet isn't that relevant.
However this meet was put together for the Midlanders, as there wasn't a regular place to meet.
Now, there's this one, and the Cosford one, which is a good meet to, but early for some of you.

the car park is too tight you have to squeeze between the cars to have a look, aswell as been a sunday at a toby carvery (their busiest day of the week) so car park will be full as it is, you cant get any good pictures as too small or if you can there will probably be a french turd stuck in the middle...

i think we need a decent sized open space somewhere, in the country would be nice although i know it would be hard to find somewhere to get upto roughly 20 cars especially on a weekend...

i just dont understand why such a small pub car park, if you want a carpark why not go sumwhere like BnQ (just an example) they have big car parks???

BnQ carpark will be worse, busy, full of old boys with trollies, kids , families, all of who take a dim view of "Boys and their toys" in car parks.
All meets were band in the Solihull carpark after Halfords held a "Ripspeed" meet and things got out of control.

I think the idea of meeting at a pub was that we could get permission first, and so we'd have access to food and drink.

If we organised a meet for a retail park type location - or even a big Supermarket carpark I'm 99% certain that if we asked permission first they'd say no, and if we just turned up we'd get kicked off - and frankly my days of hanging around my car on a McDonalds carpark are well behind me

At the Toby at least the manager has agreed we can meet there as long as there's no trouble or showing off and its easy for most Midlanders to get to.

I can't think of any boozers with a significantly bigger carpark to be honest.

Unless anyone can come up with a significantly better idea if it ain't broke don't fix it

Have to say I didnt think the Toby or its car park where particularly great, in fact thought the other place we went to in Tamworth was much better !!
Surely there must be somewhere located fairly centrally to all Midlanders ie Derby, Birmingham, Northampton that other classic car clubs and the like go to ???

Ive got an excuse being a southerner , so can only recommend Box Hill, Heston Services or the Ace !!!

I think the car meets will be kicking off again in Ashby Folville in a few months. Its located in between Oakham and Leicester, so is quite central. Theres also some fantastic driving roads in the area.

Its every 2nd Tuesday of the month and basically takes over the entire village, lots of car & bike clubs meet up in one location on the same night. Might be nice to get some E30's along?

Heres a brief idea, along with cheesy music, of the mixture of cars attending:

And a vague idea of how many people usually attend:

Just an idea anyway.

haha i didn't know that! i knew they had put a stop on it, cus all the kids used to go down there n mess about. shame really because DFS old car park would be ideal :/

EDIT: that ashby folville meet looks really good might have to get along to one sometime....

Without stepping on anyones Toes, there may well be a very suitable
venue here in Northampton. Thinking about the council owned carpark
at Sixfields Stadium. Very large parking area, with all kinds of food outlets for
the Gannetts, Halfords store very close, for the Brummies  .
Also adjacent to a very large country park and lake.
2miles , approx, from the M1, so very handy for access.

Would need to check with the relevant authorities first, but could well be a goer.

Ollie, you,ve got plenty of time on your hands, get phoning mate :)

Later on, on a sunday there is usually a council cruise at sixfields. 8O

Although for any lazy E30 owners there is a hand car wash.

Northampton may be a bit far for the Notts lads?
