Never liked the E34 always thought it looked a bit cheap and now where near as stylish as other BMW's of the same era.

Almost like the BMW design guys couldnt be arsed to put any effort in when making the E34

Nice but too many mods and it's a 3.6

Can't beat an original 3.8

The 3.6 is the stronger engine but at their age and milage now it makes really no difference.

Anyone wanting one of these cars should consider it carefully, they are very expensive for spares at BMW and second hand. For example its cost me best part of a grand to do the headgasket on my Individual M5, thats the parts and having the cylinder head & cam box checked out at a machine shop, I've done all the labour. That cost does not include setting the valve clearances either! An oil change will cost you £100 in parts alone also...

I'd like one but i'm still not going to commit until i can afford it, which at the moment would mean selling everything and just having the M5 i think to run it properly! One day though

E34 M5 is a fantastic car,,

in the old days it was really quick,, not today

I would prefer 3.8,, but the reliability of 3.6 is better,,

both engine in a superb condition the 3.8 is a winner in performance,, 25 more ponies and 35 nm more,, and you can feel it

I recently sold my 3.6 M5,,

Image

as i didnt want to have a BT ,, Cabrio S38B38 and the M5 at once
to much spent of money

The main rule is ,, warm the oil up at minimium 60+°c before you start flooring

I love em too, there is something about them. The build quality on my M5 is better than my E36 and my mums E46, and they are pretty good! The "thud" when you close the door oozes quality...
I bought my Individual M5 knowing the headgasket had gone so I paid accordingly but its not the kind of surprise you'd want shortly after buying one for proper money!

Looks nice that one but again, its been for sale for a while. I'm sure his reserve wont be met again but with a rusty filler flap what does he expect!
