If i go down the M52 route is this basicly what i need? I know you can use the M42 box to simplify things but i want to use the ZF box from the 328i.

M52B28
M52 exhaust manifolds
E36 alloy mount arms with E28 M5 rubbers
E36 328i/M3 5 speed box
Lightened M20B25 flywheel and clutch, E21 323i release bearing
Gear linkage from a E30 320i with the getrag 240 box
E30 gearbox cross member (modifed?)
E34 sump (modded to clear M20 flywheel), oil pick up, dipsitck and tube
DanThe steeringlinkage
E36 328i prop with reverse centre bearing
E36 328i Rad
Plastic winged clio servo

Couple of things im not sure about,

what gearbox mount rubbers? M20 ones?

Do i need to mod the exhaust manifolds at all when using the a DanThe steering linkage?

Whats bore exaust do i need to use? Will an M20B25 system be ok?

I assume i need to cut and shut M52 and E30 down pipes?

Does the clio servo work with the E30 master without mods?

IMO I would use an m42 box and simplify the lot.

Your pretty much there though with the fab. I believe the exhaust does need a tweek with dans linkage.

325 system will be fine

I've not used the clio servo but I suspect it will only require a spacer :)

standard brakes aren't upto the job at all.

Yeah you need to cut and shut the mani/downpipe unless you go to BTB :)
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!

You need S5x numbers in your life barry, none of this M5x gash. S54 is the way forward :D

TBH Chris, i would like an M88 for it as its period but i've gotta be realistic.

I'm not ruling out an S5x, just wanna know the ins and outs of all routes to take to 24V'ness.

You dont need to mod the sump if you have the flywheel skimmed on the back
E21 gearbox mounts are the best BMW parts shelf items
I use a 325i system on mine, you will need to either bend the front manifold or chop it short to clear an E36 rack, not tried with an E30 rack but if it does miss, it will still be very close to the subframe

I will be using an E46/E36 rack for sure. The E36 manifolds are all stainless right? Heat and bend then.

using the M52 gearbox will have you needing a compatible diff Barry. iS box FTW.

i pulled a clio servo from a breaker yesterday, but Dezzy has called it. Sadly there were no other such turds missing their engines (as there's no way I'd attempt servo removal with the lump in place) but I'm probably telling you to suck eggs there :)

You gonna buy a complete 328?

Lee, i'm aware of the direct drive 5th gear in the ZF box and i want to use a Z3M diff like i had in the S50 for various reasons but yes i will most likely buy a complete donor car, hopefully something with morsels to claw back some coin.

Dan, i will ask a few of them when the time comes, im sure they have one kicking about. Removing ones no ball ache compared to other jobs on Clio 2's. Powe steering pipes on 172/182's were fun!

With the clio servo, i need a space between the servo and master right?

I cut down a snug fitting piece of threaded bar, about 10mm long and fitted that into the master cylinder, drilled it slightly at one end to create a countersink that the servo rod pushes into. But I didn't need to do this on the second clio servo I used as I really had to push the master cylinder onto the servo.
