Does look mean in that Alpina way but now the problems start as you have to go Alpina decals on it as that's what makes them look really tasty. Slippery slope...!

They're not highbacks.

'Highbacks' have a high back - e.g. sport evo seats/integra type r seats etc.

The seats Barry has are the Recaro LS.

It lost its originality when i put the 16" Alpinas on it.

I also have an Alpina boot spoiler on order.

My car will look like this one.

You've got to put the stripes on then - looks unfinished otherwise.

Stripes were an option, not madatory. I'm reluctant to stripe as its getting to close to being a C2 replica.

It looks much better imo, creates a more classic look, and is a more inkeeping design with the shape of the E30. The alpina rear spoiler willl finish it off nicely as well.

I have never been overly keen on a Tec2 kit (a tad to curvy), but this take on alpina/tec 2 joined is fantastic.

Just overall, the car looks superb.

I know the feeling putting the Alpinas on it, I put mine on in 1997 because I didn't want TSW Blades or the like

I'm not feeling the transformation and with all the hard work to keeping it original it seems to be swerving off the mark slightly.

I agree. The wheels and steering wheel were a nice touch to make it stand out. Can always go back to Tech II and the lip spoiler will not lose value I'm sure should it need to go.

I'm not trying to keep it original, just specced right up with stuff that was available when new.

When i first bought it it had cloth, no OBC, no cruise, no blind, nothing! A bog standard sport.

Mine is standard, no OBC, no cruise or blind but I'm not bothered because I enjoy it as it is.

Spook, i dont want to make a rep without the engine to match and as mine isn't going to be knackered anytime soon, it aint gonna have one.

Keiran, thats fair enough but if you enjoy it as it is why did you ad the Alpinas, a leather retrim and fit a full btb system and manifold?

Good question :?

Like I said I opted for the Alpinas back in 1997 when TSW Blades were in fashion and I wanted something near original, hence the Alpinas with keeping it within the family.

The leather re trim was done off the cuff as I know Jim @ Autotrim and looking at the old leather is was best to re trim than patch up and make do.

The BTB manifold was an accident really, I was browsing the group buy section and thought why not, I wasn't after more power but something nice to look at under the bonnet. The full system came as I wanted to compliment the manifold and ditch the ghastly Scorpion back box ( which was in fashion once back in 1998 :o: ).

Maybe I should of opted for the standard exhaust but it's SS and will last my life time with care.

I still have the original 15" BBS alloys and will be being refurbed in the very near future and one day may turn a wheel on the sport

Another thread, another update! :D I have finally got round to doing something which was holding up doing other work which inturn, needs to be done before my interior comes back from the trimmers.

Image

As my interior is looking like this at them moment, i chucked a seat in the car and took it into work so i could inject waxoil with a air pressure fed shultz gun as this needed to be done prior to the carpet going in. The carpet needs to go in before the A/C heater box due to the size of it and i dont want any cut carpet wrongness by cutting the mint shaffer (dark grey) carpet i have for it.

Image

I used this as it a good cavity wax and i get it cheap! :) I removed all the bungs in the floor inject the chassis rails from inside the car and went mad with it on the inner rear arches, behind the front wings, inside the sills, front foot well speaker holes and various other places prone to rot.

A ramp and an air line was a must for this job but i still got covered in a layer of wax!

Just a couple of pics of some of the areas.

Now i can remove the dash and crack on with the A/C retofit! :D
