In theory yes :) but you have to have an elbow that rotates 360 degrees and a wrist to match, you must also be capable of fitting under an unjacked car. Oh you'll need a bleed kit too:)

But seriously, all the usual stuff aswell, jacks, stands, hammers, brake line spanner, and a bleed kit should about do it. Get the car up as high as poss, the problem is the access to the ends on the body, the more upright you can get your body the easier it is. A pit or ramp would be perfect, but few people have them.

Yes I belive they are 10mm, if you don't have a brake line spanner, just buy a 10mm ring spanner and cut a whack out of it.

The tools of choice are;

11mm flare nut spanner
14mm open ended spanner
lots of penetrating oil (plus gas is really good)

Prepare for a few skinned knuckles and dirt in your eyes.

Cheers,

if i was you i'd buy a proper brake spanner. halfords do them for a few quid... they're a lot meatier and are a cut 6 sided type, not the 12 sides you'd have if you cut a ring spanner. chances are you'll get away with it but if the unions are tight/corroded (they will be!) you'll round the union off and it's then new metal brake pipe time. not fun! i hate working on brakes as the unions almost always give up..

Go for hoses which have an outer sheath over the braid to avoid future possible MOT/insurance/police problems.

Sorry, thought it was a 10mm :oops:

I think the majority of hoses are sheathed now, the Goodridge ones are anyway.

Mine have braided metal on the outside. Should it be covered in plastic?

Yes, the reason they added the sheath was to stop gravel and dust getting in between the braid and the teflon pipe, the dirt wears away at the hose and you have no way of knowing how badly they are damaged as the braid is in the way and looks fine. that is until the hose ruptures and you lose brakes..

I'm pretty sure that you'll need a 7/16 brake spanner. It took me a little while to work out why my open end metric spanners weren't a good fit then i bought the proper spanner from halfords which works perfectly.
It's probably the only imperial size part on the car the rest is metric as you would expect.

I find 7/16 is a better fit than 11mm as well.
