hi all have just had a bit of bad news, car was smoking a little to much for my likeing so took it down the garage as they have just serviced it, new plugs etc, they told me that cylinder 3 was a bit cloged up and that they thought it might just be because it had not had a service in a while,so they took out the new plugs to check them and sure enough number three was clogged up, they seem quite confident it is a valve, the smoke is white not blue and it smells a bit of fuel, has any one ever experianced this problem because i am looking at alot of money to get the head of to verify the valve problem.and if it is a piston ring it might be worth getting a new lump...........any replies much appriciated

Well at least it's only a top end job to replace a valve...

Regarding my car...thanks.
There aren't any more pics of her on here yet, but to be honest, it's a very normal looking 4 door in Lachs(salmon)silver.

do you know if there is any way the valve could be stuck closed and maybe it might need to be cleared or adjusted, just a thought trying to save the pennys.................

I dont think it's possible for the valve to remain open without it hitting the cylinder. As for the valve staying closed...that could only happen if the rocker is bent or broken.
