I have heard nothing...and I mean nothing but horror stories about GRAP.
Best of luck!
My cousin had one fitted, when the guy came to fit the alarm (who are just contracted to GRAP) he asked the fitter how much his Ԛ£550 alarm would have cost if he'd gone to him direct...Ԛ£315!! He's had nothing but problems with the alarm, he had I think 3 problems when it was under warranty which they reluctantly sorted, after the year, they told him he would have to pay Ԛ£115 first to have the alarm serviced before they would look at the problem, and any parts that need replacing would be of cost to himself. So unless you keep a service history you're knackered!!
Ohh, and he had his stereo stolen with this alarm fitted, and it didn't even go off

Sorry mate, don't want to piss you off, they are up there with the companies that I would never ever go anywhere near!William wrote:o bollocks.the whole 'recommended for PMR UK' is not really worth anything if they are sh*t to normal customer. I suppose everybody's experience is different, lets hope mine is a better one than your cousins simon!!!
some good feedback from someone would be reassuring!!??
I'm pretty sure there was a thread about them a while back!

They did a good job on my 840 bm when other local firms refused the job due to over complicated 8 series elecs, the fitter even gave me his own home number should i need him again, as it happened my siren failed and was replaced under warranty.
All said i'd mark them 7 out of 10, in my opinion there many other cowboys out there.

Probably because they're a big name, but in the real world it's a different story, don't be fooled by pimp my shed, it's all nice stuff on the outside, I mean they put some chrome 22" wheels on car, and don't touch the brakes etc, still see rusty calipers etc, overhaulin is more like it, totally stripped, shell blasted, and treated etc, nothing is left!!William wrote:hhmmmmm, looks like i might be cancelling this appointment then. Any ideas why MTV chose them if they are so sh*t??

Just to add my thoughts
With any alarm system. Installation is critical. But in my experience. Most installers dont want to spend the time doing a decent job. They know they can do a fantastic 110% install in 5-6 hours. But they'll rush it into 3 hours so they can get the money in. You can even leave the car with them for 3 days to give them loads of time. But they'll still be installing and setting up when you come to pick the car up.
I have yet to find anybody that does a job Im 100% happy with.

well thats easy then. This plus the fact that I phoned them up today after Simon's tip off about the compulsory servicing (cheers for that mate) and they confirmed that you have to pay Ԛ£150 a year now for servicing to validate the warranty! I was fookin livid, layed into them about what scamming bastards they are (to quote fowler) to sell me an installation at a supposedly amazing price, only to quietly hide from me the fact that the warranty wasn't reall included at all as in order for it to be valid you had to pay Ԛ£150 a year!!
Also, when the manager rang me back to arrange a deal after I didn't accept the salesmans offer, he started saying that he couldn't go much below Ԛ£425 because then he'd have to start not picking up my phone calls and never ringing me back etc as I hadn't really payed enough to justify customer service. I thought what a fookin monkey show, what kind of "reputable company, recommended by all the magazines, used by PMR etc.....bla bla bla...." has a policy of customer dissatisfaction and not picking the phone up. Fucg disgraceful. He fed me some bullshit about meaning that if I paid a lower price, they couldn't offer me the alarm, I'd have to go somewhere else and that is why he said what he said, but in retrospect, having heard everyone's comments, he meant exactly what he said and as a result I will be slating them at every opportunity from now on.
A BUNCH OF F****G COWBOYS.
Thank you very much everyone for wising me up to this crackpot business before I became another victim of their "we are the best bla bla..." telesales spiel. Off to the local then

William, glad you decided against!!
In my honest opinion, look for one you can buy yourself, and give yourself a weekend to fit it, although the wiring is all black, they come with labels stuck to the end of each wire telling you what's what, this way, you can do the job properly yourself, in a way you'd be happy with, any problems, just come on here and ask, someone will answer your question!
