Hey I am new enough to these forums -been hanging arond the last few day sucking up info - i just got my hands on a 1991 320i SE - Its a lovely looking motor but the engine is blown - however i have a replacement which at the moment is being skimmed and next week being polished - now before i ask anything i just want to say that i am not restoring for out and out maxx power and boom etc - i do about 375 miles a week - this is my every day family car (and yes when i am on my own i do like to push on a bit!) so you know id like to keep the mpg above 30 if at all possible -
bbbbuuuuuuuttt - yes of course i would like to do some nice work on it regarding performance parts which is why i have started of with an engine port and polish! so here goes-
1) Would you reccomend uprated injecters?would this involve a stronger pump?
2)have decided on the btb 6 branch from the zone shop (if pilot is willing to ship!) but undecided on middle and back box any suggerstions?
3)looking to get one of those 100 squid viper chips from chippduk - has anyone any experience with these?
4)i would dearly love to convert rear to discs instead of drums - is this easy/reccomended?
5) i have heard lowering springs make the e30's eat tyres, this cant be true..... can it?
6)considering strut and antiroll bars but is this a raceday mod? ie you wont feel the benifit of it unless in highspeed pursuit
7)within my confines what else would you throw up for suggestion to get some more horses out of her - apart from mad ass stuff thats going to ruin my mpg i cant think of anything along the lines of middle of the road mods!
while i appreciate your hearts are in whipping the ass's of 325s i would apprecciate any help at all
cheers
liam
few questions for my 320i restore project.

little point doing anything with the injectors, expensive to do and pointless on the 2.0 as I think the 2.5 uses the same ones.
Mongoose is a lovely system apparently and really good money.
speak to ant on here, chips@e30zone.co.uk Ԛ£55 a throw for a kickass chip, and you have a choice of 2 to choose from.
need rear trailing arms from a touring or 325, will also need new handbrake cables. not an impossible job but can be a bugger to get the old stuff apart, Also you will need a tool/press to get the new bushes in (do them while it's off)
It don't make them eat tyres, what happens on the rear is that the camber gets pushed off and causes the inside of the tyres to wear faster than the outside/middle. If you are replacing your trailing arms get eccentric bushes for them and this will minimise the camber change. Only really need to worry about it if you go more than a 35mm drop.
Rear ARB is worth fitting if you don't have one, strut brace not so worthwhile unless you really give it some round the twisties.
Best suggestion for better mpg and more power, get a 2.5 engine instead, they are well up on power and return better mpg than the 2.0 on average (excluding Zayyan from this list
More power = more fuel = lower mpg as a general rule, power comes from fuel being burnt, therefore more power = more fuel.
(nice contradiction there considering the 2.0/2.5 comment
