I have just got my car booked in for the m20 b2.5 conversion and auto to manual conversion too! Everything should be done by the 2nd week in feb, i am so so excited!

I have waited a good few years to do this, and now the time is right. I know there is going to be a vast improvement in the car and i cant wait to feel the difference, i know a lot of people have done this conversion so tell me what was the 1st drive of your cars like after?

:D

I think you have impeccable taste in wheels winkeye

Seriously though I think that the BSX are great value for money and are pitched at the right level (IMO) in terms of the cross between standard BBS and some of the deeper rimmed products.

Car looks great.

It's such a massive difference! I went from a 320i manual to a 325i cab, so had a weight penalty as well as a quicker car to start with, but it was still night & day. Enjoy

£1000 a set, no tyres mind.
So going into BBS RM territory and personnally the BBS is a better wheel.

and sizes are 8j ET12 and 9j ET1

Beautiful looking car. regardless of what,s in the engine bay.

Dom, do you have any pics from the boot end, mine is currently
60 - 40 drop, albeit on 15",s, but looks a lot lower, to me, than your 60 - 60.

Gooner - any pics of the 60-40 drop - this is the drop I opted for and have still to fit the springs - I was worrying about this decision. (sorry for the borderline spamming) :o:

Yours does look low at the back, are you just on springs or shocks too?

Mine being an auto the back end does drop slightly once in gear.

£699 with no tyres or £999 with tyres, I reckon there may be arch issues though if the 9j are ET25!!!

Dom your car is one of my favourites on the zone, it sits and looks perfect. Good luck with getting the new engine in :thumb:

The work is progressing nicely and hopefully should have my car back next week sometime??? I will post some pics up of the work taking place when have everything finished and my car back.

I wanted to ask advice on how to go about informing the dvla etc on the work that has been carried out. I dont want to not inform them as would like the car to be all legal and above board. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers :D

Seems to be a bit of a lottery as to whether the dvla want proof of the conversion or not. Just fill in the new details and send it off, you might get lucky and they'll update them without any problems. Otherwise you'll need a letter or some other form of proof, which shouldn't be a problem if you're getting someone else to do the conversion.

I wasn't so lucky and also did the conversion myself so in the end got BMW UK to confirm the VINs and engine numbers of the donor and donee cars and that was good enough for the dvla.

Are fully '325ing' it? Front struts, diff, battery in boot, etc?

I went from 325 to 320 (the 325 was a rusty turd, the 320 was nice and solid), but was so disappointed with the performance of the b20 I swapped the engines as soon as I could. The b25 will put a big smile on your face.

Ensure that the garage doing the job state on their invoice;
engine number
exact capacity
fuel type
This MUST be on 'headed notepaper'!
Your car will still be a 320i,but with a 325 engine.
As the engine's look the same,it may just be easier to forget to inform DVLA,but make sure your insurer's know.
Youth is wasted on the young.
