I'm about to buy a suspension kit for my car but cant decide what drop to go for.
Does anyone have any pictures of cars with 60/40 and 60/60 drops they could post so I can have a look? (its a touring but any pics will do)
Cheers.
60/60 or 60/40?

35-35 absolute maximum. Beyond this the suspension just does not work.

I'm getting shocks and springs, not just springs.

Won't help - all the suspension angles will be wrong. Rears , for example, will develop a massive amount of excessive negative camber, meaning that a good part of your rear tyres won't even contact the road, until the insides are worn to the canvas.waveydavey wrote:I'm getting shocks and springs, not just springs.

dont I know it! it came on some horribly low suspension and the camber on the rear is a joke.
The front seems fine though and its a lot more than 60mm at the moment so surely a 60/40 would solve the problems with the rear?
I know lowering a car a lot is never a particularly good idea but I do want it to be quite low, just not stupidly low like it is now.

Yes, it can be done properly. Basically involves lowering the shell around the suspension pick up points. Should be possible for a few £000'spac1982 wrote:I really want he raked look myslef but dont wont to ruin my handling are there any raked kits that dont make you car handle like a steam roller??

Think I'll just stick to a suspension kit over a full body drop!
I reckon I'll hedge my bets and go for a 60/40 kit. They seem to be pretty popular so it cant be that bad.
And yes, if it turns out to be shocking, you can say 'I told you so' and I will eat humble pie.

If you are going that low then make sure you use some good springs and dampers, H&R springs and Bilstein B8 dampers are regarded the best. Ive used spax springs before (60/40) and found them too soft, using B8 dampers improved the ride but it was still not right and nowhere near as good as my car now with -35 H&R springs and B8's. Ive never used 60/40 H&R springs but im sure they will be a lot better/firmer than spax.
Brian is right about the travel being affected, while using the spax I always felt like the suspension was bottomed out with no travel left in it when pressing on through tightish bends.
If you want to put the rear suspension back to factory camber/toe settings after lowering you will need these -
