I unpopped the plastic clip and had a look at how the gaiter was attached to the gear stick but I'm not confident that when I ge the old torn up plastic one off that I'll be able to fit on my nice new leather one!
So, how do I get the gear knob off and replace the gaiter?
Many thanks

Yeah, just keep pulling really hard. It's almost worth straddling the centre console and giving it a really good pull. Careful you don't:timjbart wrote:given it a good yank and it seems pretty firm, shall I just keep pulling!?
a: Punch youself in the plums
b: Smack yourself in the face
c: Smack the rear view mirror off
Any or all of these are possible whilst removing the knob. Also make sure you don't twist it off. This will break the insode of the knob, and it will never go back on right.

Forstly you need to tell us what sort of gaiter you have, is it a BMW one or is it a Halfords job?
Also you need to tell us what sort of gearknob is on there at present. There are different types, one type is a gearknob and gaiter all in one and you can't separate them. If you have this type then you'll have to get a new gearknob as well.
