Hi, does anyone on here live near Ashington in the North East? I could do with someone with a bit of knowledge having a look at an engine that one of our members has up for sale. I'm in Sheffield so could do without the drive if it's a turkey!
It's a chance to meet up with a fellow zoner for anyone in the area.
Cheers,
Dan

its about 35-40 minutes north of me and smithy, and thats on a good day, however some of the a1 is closed at the moment and it took me about 20 mins to circumnavigate the diversion when 800 yards of a1 would have got me to the same place.
so it'll probably take a bit longer

Cheers fellas. It's an M20 325 from an 87 car I think, has apparently been rebuilt only 1500 miles ago but can't be seen runing as it's out of the car. The seller is a Zoner called Hoggy, one of the old school zoners and someone I would be inclined to trust. However, as I'll be shelling out for a courier to get it to me, could do without it being a lemon.
I'll let you know the details Craigeeb, just waiting for some pics and details of engine/head numbers etc. I want this to just slip straight into my 1991 325 ith no pissing about with ECU's and other electrics.
Thanks for the offer, do you know a bit about engines?

I'm north of the Tyne (just). Just been up that way this morning too.
If the engine is out of the car & can't be seen running it's a bit hard to assess what condition it's in. If you're desperate I suppose I could take a look . . .
Any of you North Easterners going to the NE Club meeting at Bowburn Hall on Wednesday night?

I'm in North Shields.
We usually meet at the Holiday Inn at Seaton Burn first Wed of the month but we're trying a venue futher south to attract the people from the south of the region, Teesside etc.
We will be back at Seaton Burn on the 5th Oct & will alternate between the two.
We have a good cross section of cars from E30's (BillGates 325 Sport, Essbees 320 Touring, Baur320's er.. 320 Baur, my316 Touring), E36, E28, E34, M3's, M5's, a Z4 & my 635.
We have various events - the Drive 'n' Dines are very popular.
Have a look at our website www.bmwclubne.co.uk for info.
Look forward to seeing some of you when you can make it.

Worth the elbow grease!

Craigieeb.........you sound like the perfect man for the job! I'm just a bit concerned that the engine has been rebuilt and then sold on so quickly, why spend all that money then not use it.....something not done quite right??! I'll be in touch.
Andytouring......that 635 looks like it's just rolled out of the factory. Stunning!

yup, got this 1 with the address,
so is the engine in or out the car??
coz if its out there's not too much i could do to make sure its in good condition, i could crank it over manually a couple of times but thats about it, apart from striping it bare, which just aint viable matey

Craigieeb deserves a big thank you for making the effort to go and see an engine for me at pretty short notice.
If there's ever anything I can do to help out in return then just let me know.
Top fella, many thanks.
