Apparently the E34 M5 values are on the up.

I had an E34 (520i manual) for a year after I had a roundabout incident in my 328. Was genuinely impressed. Properly solid car, super on the motorway and wasn't too shabby if you threw a few bends its way. Plus, I think the E34 is probably one of the best looking 'timeless' BMWs ever.

I'd certainly buy another. 8)

Vanos cars are much, much better. That's why they introduced variable inlet cam timing to increase torque.
Non Vanos stuff is just old scrap now, shagged out old J plate rubbish. The only ones worth having are the late wide grille 94-95 cars with the full or half leather. Not a bad car for £800.

520i vanos with a manual box. Not too shabby really. The non vanos 520i's are just shit to the point of being dangerous.
What happened to the Calypso turd in the end? That was a very cheap years motoring!

2 doors and a sporty image/ cult following as against 4 doors and a council image/following ! :)
but still you could say that about the e30 in general my point was that the upgrades are the same in terms of it been a "sport" i would never argue that an e30 is better followed than an e34! but no one will say an e30 sport is just an e30 with bumpers and a slipper! i think its only fair the e34 "sport" gets the same respect for the "sport" model as the e30 does over s.e's etc.

I think its because the 325i sport was the top model expect the M3. Where as the 525i sport had the 535i and the 540i above it.

after 1993 the only sport model available (an offical sport that is) was the 525i as 535i sport stopped in 1992 and there was never a 540i or 530i sport. so in terms of sport models the 525i sport was the only model available in sport spec for a good 4 years!

not sure why there was no 540i sport? maybe it would have been to close to the m5 for sales?

i recon they will end up just like the e28, and e21 just die out, the odd ones left may become collectable but cars like the e30, 2002 etc will be more collecable with a cult following which they allready have as bss325i said

the m5's will be collecable though

Like blitz said, the 325i was the top of the range, a 525i has never been top of the range, sport or not

Too many niggles to bother with the MOT tbh. Ended up punting it on to a mate for £200.

T'was a bargain 8)

Like it's been said - the Sport and M5's will be collectable - if my tds keeps going then it will sell well.

They are really under-estimated cars :?
Previously owned loads of old E30s, E34s, a few E36s, E32s, E39s and an E38.

At what stage did the e34 get m50'd rather than m20. Would a G reg likely to have one? Mate has just bought one but isnt forthcoming with details!

G reg will be the M20.

I've had a non-vanos H reg M50 520 and a J reg 325 with a non-vanos, then not long after they all went vanos.

Agreed,,, but imo M5 and ALPINA would be ahead of 540

Except in North America (the 540i M-Sport and the Canadian M540i) and Australia (the 540iLE) - all 1995 cars with full M5 running gear except for the motor.
