Hi mate, the 2.7 eta "eta - economy" engine was used in the E30 325e and the 525e. this engine is setup to give less BHP than a 2.5 but more torque as I believe, As I am aware a lot of guys have done this, conversion, using the 2.7 crank with the 2.5 head, (think the 2.7 head has less cam bearings and the gas flow isn't as good for BHP) so the benifit being you get better BHP and better Torque. Not sure what rod's etc you need to use, but I am sure if you put a post in the tech section titled "Building a 2.7 M20" the guys will fill in the blanks for you.

Kind regards

Andy

nobody actually knows to be honest. the lad who owns it doesn't know much about cars!

all i know is it's a 93 4dr e36 with a 97 328i engine. guess it has the 325 manifold but couldn't say for definate. the exhaust system and manifold are standard. it must be putting out a fair few bhp because it will comfortably pull away from my close ratio m535i, any gear, any speed. and i'd be surprised if it was much lighter if any at all. this car is part of the reason i am building my 335i :teehee: desperate measures and all that

how far do you want to go? head work is not cheap but theres loads
of horses availble in a m20 2.5. most important an engine is a pump
get it breathing properly

i have a standered 3.5 lump avalible in a 7series auto and you can here it running no breakes so cant drive.
will be cheap as i need the room.

cam
exhaust
6 branch
remap/custom chip from ant

this lot will stil cost u Ԛ£1k which makes the 3.5 seem more sensible
i reckon u can get a 3.5 in for around Ԛ£800 if u do most of the work ureself, and ull have 220hp

220 bhp sounds cool

i reckon once i've had some more fun with the 2.5, i'll move on to the 3.5 conversion (like many ppl are doing here)

as for the mods on the 2.5, i already have:

full s/s scorpion exhaust
wild chip from ant, not remapped or anything

will be looking for a 6 branch soon though
