Hey,

Some of you may remember me from a year or so back...i used to be on here all the time, but then i bought my 1st house and i've been working 16 hours a day for more or less the past year. :(

Anyways, i have a bit of a dilema on my hands...i currently have the 2 E30's from my sig pic and really need to get something newer as i clearly don't have the free time i thought i would when i first bought these 2 (had planned on fixing them up myself).

I therefore need to sell both, and would obviously like to get as much money for them as possible, however i think (especially at this moment in time) i'll get more for them if i sell off all the bits, and then sell the cars (if there's anything left of them) seperately.

The specs are as follows:
325i Auto Touring:
-Full Scorpion Stainless Steel Exhaust - (was only almost brand new when i bought it, and it only saw about 1-2months actual use so should still be in very good condition)
-Alcantara Tech 2 Steering Wheel - (always kept clean, so should still be in good nick
-16 x 9J Borbet T Alloy Wheels (dish was polished to a mirror shine...will need a good clean now, but look stunning when cleaned up properly - see thread for pics)
-Brand New Disks and Pads upfront - (only time they've been used was to move the car 2 streets from my parents house to my house, never used since)
-DIY Smoked Smiley headlights - (a very good job done by previous owner...look very good when paired with HID's)
-New Battery - (fitted shortly after parking it up, not connected so should still have full charge)

325i Manual 4-door:
- LPG Converted (very economical obviously)
-16" RH Topline Alloy Wheels - ( brand new tyres all round fitted a few months ago - 2 wheels have curb marks)
-Full OBC (all functions working including "gong", and screen lights up fine)
-LHD heater panel - (to ensure DVD player/screen doesn't catch indicator stalk when opening/closing)

I also had Subs, Amp, speakers, power-cap, reversing camera, Digital Freeview box and a DVD head-unit to link it all upto that i would like to sell aswell (All wiring included). I also have tons of spare parts, aswell as some morsels left over from my brothers convertible including hard-top in mint condition, Genuine Cab/2-door tech II kit, 14" BBS alloys ( 1 alloy damaged), original cab suspension setup, spare sets of lowering springs, and lots of spares such as lights and interior bits and bobs.

The touring has been sat ever since i got the 4-door so will probably need a bit of work to get it back to its former glory. MOT expired 21/5/2009.

The 4door needs a few bits doing, but the main issue with it is the bodywork...which to be kind is pretty bad. Bonnet, roof and boot are very faded the passenger window has scratches on it from before i bought the car. This aside the lower portions of the car have quite a bit of surface rust (need to clean it properly when the weather gets better), and rear passenger wheel arch also has a scratch where some kind person decided they would drive a bit too close whilst it was parked at work. MOT runs to 28/04/2010.

I'd really like some feedback on what people think the best option is to sell both. The one thing that i don't really have is time to work on these, so fixing them myself isn't really an option, and i don't like to see them sitting gathering rust on my drive. Alternatively if there is anyone who would like to buy both and combine the best bits (which is what i intended on doing) then please get in touch and we'll see what we can work out.

For those of you who don't know the cars, here are my threads...click on the pics to open the threads!

If it was me, i would return the car's to standard where possible and sell the good bits separately. You should get a good price that way :)

I think this way will end up getting me more money, but it involves alot hassle, and time on my part, which i just don't have. It'll also mean that i end up with 2 cars that aren't really that sell-able in today's climate (thirsty 325i's!).

I think the bits could be priced as following at a very minimum:
Borbet T wheels: £400 (or £500 and i'll re-polish them all to get them back to their former glory)
Scorpion Exhaust: £250
Alcantara Tech II Steering Wheel: £150
Standard Tech II Steering Wheel: £50 (quite shiny and smooth now)
DIY Smoked Smiley Headlights: £100
16" RH Toplines: £300
Full OBC: £80 (if i can be bothered to remove it all!)
Subs:£100 (fair price for 2 x 15" subs)
Amp + Wiring: £100 (once again, fair price i think)
DVD player along with speakers, Digital Freeview, Infa-Red reversing camera: £100
2 x head-rest Monitors: £50 (can be added to the above package)
Good/Mint condition Standard cloth interior from touring: £50
Genuine IS front Lip Spoiler: £40? (not sure what these are worth these days)
SE Side Skirts: £30? (once again, not really sure what they're worth)

I make all that lot comes to £1800 atleast, and that's before i start stripping the LPG system, engines, gearboxes, and all the other bits and bobs (which i would rather not do). Please correct me if you think i'm asking too much for any of the above
Phatz wrote:That touring looks the nuts imo.. cool Needs a good home that one.
Thanks, I think that same thought everyday when i come home from work...my 3-year old tells me every now and then that the touring is his car, and that he's going to have it when he grows up, and one side of me thinks that it would be a great present if i could get it fixed up, and present it to him when he comes of age, but then reality kicks in and i have to consider that it may just be a pile of rust by then!

I've come close to selling it on quite a few occasions, and then backed out...if i had a pound for everytime i've had people leave a note on the car or knock on my door since i've moved into my own house, then i probably wouldn't need to be selling it, but i know that it wouldn't be appreciated and one side of me wants it to go to a zoner who may be able to throw some love it's way.

No idea really...i'd need to get started up and take it for a spin to make sure that everythings still working as it should be before i could put a price on it.

I'm an honest bloke, so would need to find any and all faults and list them to ensure people know exactly what they're buying.

Bare in mind that this car has been stood since December 2008 (when i bought the 4-door) and in that time only moved once and that was literally round the corner from my parents house to my house (parked it on my drive the same day i got my house keys).

That said i'd guess around the £500-600 mark minus the appropriate amount for any work that needs doing (which shouldn't be much as i spent alot of money on it not long before i parked it up fixing anything/everything i knew needed doing)

Last time i looked at it (i know it was a long time ago) it was very solid...only rust that i knew off was a tiny bit on the bottom of one of the doors...surface rust, so easily treatable.

Paint wise however it wasn't brilliant. Previous owner lived on a farm, and was surrounded by single lane country roads with bushes on either side, so the doors on both sides were pretty scratched up. Never bothered me at the time because i'm a qualified vehicle re-finisher, and was going to give it a full re-spray, but then i quit my job in the bodyshop and couldn't get hold of a spray booth to do the whole car and ever since i've been working long shifts 7-days a week.

To be honest, if you look through the thread i created for the touring you'll see that when i cleaned/polished/wax'd it..it looked pretty good. And Silver is a very good colour for hiding defects, but if you looked out for the defects them you would see them.

Once again, i would need to give it a good clean and inspection before i can say what's what, but last i checked it was very solid. This was probably down the how through the previous owner was with the wax-oil, and also the fact that i cleaned/polished/wax'd it every week to make sure that it stayed the way it was, and to ensure them wheels stayed shiny.

For the touring, i would remove the wheels, the I.C.E., steering wheel (alacantra) and the smoked lights and then sell it.

I reckon with a full MOT and a good valet, you should get around £800-900 for it IMO.

Sell the 4 door as is, would be a lot of hassle to remove the LPG kit.

I may just do this, but i doubt I'll get £800-900 for it. It definitely won't have any Tax, but i will try and get it MOT'd for the sale.
ImysE30 wrote: Sell the 4 door as is, would be a lot of hassle to remove the LPG kit.
Don't want to do that anyway...only suggested it as i wanted to remove the LPG when i was finished with the 4door and put it on the touring. 4door will stay as it is, hopefully with a new MOT.
FMH wrote: i'l have the scorpion exhaust if you take the bits off the touring. Very Happy
I'll start listing parts as soon as i have some free time....may be about a month or two yet though, and final prices will be confirmed once everything has been inspected and photo's taken.

No, i don't....but i always have a lot of audio in my cars, so tinting the windows helps keep the thiefs away.

Also prefer my cars to have a 'mean' look to them, so tinting is the first thing on the list for all my cars.

Small update aswell....i will be starting to remove parts from the touring (weather permitting) this week, and will start putting parts up for sale as soon as i can.

I'm hoping to get the exhaust off this week, but it's just started snowing outside, so my plans may be delayed. :(

I have already removed the IS Lip, Smoked headlights, Alcantara steering wheel, and smoked indicators from the touring. I was hoping to clean all the parts up a bit before i start listing so i can get good pics of their condition.

Here's a first dibs list for the parts i hope to list.

**UPDATE**

Well, things have taken a turn for the worst.

Last week whilst checking the oil i noticed a few bits of mayo on the dipstick, and sure enough a day later it also appeared under the oil filler cap.

I have neither the time nor the money to fix this car, so looks like it's up for sale.

I've not driven the car since discovering it, so i'm not sure how much damage is actually done, however i don't have anyway of checking due to other commitments meaning i have very little spare time available.

I suppose there are now 3 options...

The first is for someone to buy the whole car and repair it and get it back on the road. As i say, not sure how much damage has been done, but i haven't driven it since i discovered it.

The Second option is that someone who's looking to Gas convert their car buys the whole car off me and uses the bits from it knowing that it has all bits needed and was working spot on before this occured.

The third is that i break the car, and sell off all the bits seperately. I would rather not do this as mentioned many times i simply don't have the time.

Good bits...

- Working LPG system (even second hand you'd do well to find a full LPG lit for an E30 off ebay for less than £400). Saved me shed-loads of money compared to all the other cars i've ever had (taking into account the engine size)
- Full OBC - usually sell for around £100
- 16" Diamond Cut RH Topline Wheels with very good tyres (alloys have some curbing from before i fitted them)
- Tech 2 Steering Wheel - faded and smooth, but still sell for around £50-60
- MOT till 28/04/2010 + Tax till end of March 2010.
- Professionally tinted windows (although some bits have become damaged slightly)
- 4300K HID conversion

Bad Bits...

- Quite a bit of surface rust on the car
- Head-gasket issue obviously
- Torn front seats (like that since i bought the car)
- Head-gasket issue obviously!
- blowing exhaust
- something damaged on front suspension/ball-joint/track-rod end when hid a very big pothole, (never got round to fixing as car was only used to go to work and back)
- faded paintwork (i was going to respray it...but as with everything else just didn't get round to it).

Accraf,
Not being 'heavy handed' here,I hope, but if you would be kind enough to decide if you are selling or breaking, myself or another team member will re-position this thread accordingly.
Please remember that in either case you will require suitable photo's as per the selling section's rules.
When you have made a decision and have the nessesary photo's to hand,I am just a PM away!

The reason i posted here first was because i wanted to see if anyone was actually interested in it either way (whole car as is or parts).

If this is a grey area, then i can create a new thread in the cars section and list it there.

You don't need to worry about pics...have a look at my thread in the parts section and you'll see i always provide lots of pics.
