I'm locked out of my 325 sport. The dead locks are on, and I've tried lifting the handle when turning the key. Not sure if it's due to the weather (it's -5C outside!)...
Also I can't get the key into the boot lock - pretty sure this is frozen.

Gonna get some hot water on it in a mo, but can anyone offer any other advice please...

Cheers,
Finn

just get the key nice and warm (use it stir your coffee or something! :snigger: ) then slide in into the lock as far as it will go, but resist the temptation to force or twist the key, the last you need is it snapped in the lock or twisted beyond use.
if not successful, repeat the procedure

Stir your coffee with whatever you like - just stir and drink several cups, then go out to your car......

Cheers guys. Did it in the end.
The boot was just frozen so I chucked some hot water at it - did the trick though it re-froze again pretty soon after!
Driver's door took some hot water, patience, perserverence, and WD40. Wriggled it enough in the end.
After all that made it about 50metres before sliding on ice and coming within a foot of taking out a the front corner of a pub. Snow day for me, but I gotta work from home...

I've taken to leaving my car unlocked in this weather - fortunatly I live in the middle of nowhere and can get away with it.

I find a hairdryer pointed at the lock is a good solution - better than tipping water over it because the water re freezez and you are back to square one again :(

I usually fill a 4 pint milk bottle with warm water before I leave the house, when its really cold the doors freeze up on my E34, also defrosts the screen quicker than a scrapper thing, not too hot or your windows will complain :)
