You will need to widen the transmission tunnel and make a custom front cross member (or source an E30 iX front cross member - I'm your man ) for starters, but, anything is possible

I would start off with a 325ix first to make it easier. The 325ix has different front suspension geometry as i discovered when i was going to 4x4 my 320 touring.
I also have a 525ix with m50 engine and was going to put this in the 325ix but weather is too bad to play

I've seen an M50 325iX somewhere... goes rather well too!
I'd love a M57 or even just and M51 iX touring with an M-tec kit and few bits for abit of towing
