HELP ! major water leak ?IS IT THE OIL PUMP or WATER PUMP

I have an E30 316 i with the M40 engine.

The problem I have is water leaking from out of the back of the mechanical fan shaft.(the shaft with the fan on)
With the engine off if I wiggle the fan blades water poors out from here, is this the WATER PUMP ?

The water is black so oil must be getting into it.
The dip stick oil looks runnier as thow water may be getting into it.
Or IS IT THE OIL PUMP ?

HELP

As I know little about this engine.

This happen today during a 200 mile trip.

I wasn't aware there was an oil pump!

I don't even know were the water pump is, so i cant help.

just to point out oil and water dont mix. so to say your oil is runnier is a bit .....well....wrong!

Also black water doesn't mean your oil and water are mixing. it just means that the owner / owners havn't changed the coolant in 16 years.

If you can wiggle the shaft that the fan is on then the bearings are nackered in the water pump! (The shaft is connected to the water pump).
If i remember rightly bearing grease is'nt beautiful colours, when it's old it goes black, hence the colour of the water
