Injectors....****Do You Want Yours Cleaned****
Moderator: martauto
ok this is what i`m going to do...
today i`m having my engine retuned (not ticking over nice at the mo) after that i`m going to put in the injectors i`v just had cheaplly cleaned and once my ones are out of he car i`ll send you them ones instead for a proper job, once there back i`m going to use them as that will give me time to see if theres a real difference between the 2 sets of injectors, and then i can put the other set up for sale.

Exactly. Without a proper service, cleaning is only half the job done.Injectortune wrote:
All they appear to have done is cleaned your injectors with an ultrasonic bath and used a multimeter to measure the resistance across the terminals. Did they fit new filters, o-rings, BMW pintle caps or spacing washers?

You were going to get mine today, until my mates Saab blew its turbo. Now I have to lend him the touring for a week so I can't send them to you until next monday.Injectortune wrote:Would anybody like to test the water...?

Well, my injectors are currently in the capable hands of Mr. Injectortune, so as soon as they come back to me I'll find out how much of a difference they make. They can't be any worse than the state I sent them in, as they were absolutely filthy.

Could someone clever with spanners and a camera post up a guide to removing injectors? Failing that, talk me through it and I'll do a guide and then we can all make merry getting our injectors sorted out. I know my touring won't be going anywhere until all this snow buggers off....

Disconnect the battery, then remove the the inlet manifold and you'll find the fuel rail on the underside. Remove the fuel rail and detach each injectors electrical connector and pull (carefully) each injector out.
I've changed the fuel tank as mine was buggered (It's in now Spadge, thanks again) and changed the blue sensor while it's in bits.
The big, 6 branch semi circular silver thing on the top of the engine. Have a look around it and you'll see which bolts keep it attached. Remove it and there'll be a long black plastic rail that sits on top of all the injectors.Morat wrote:Ah, you see you've lost me at "Remove inlet manifold"!
If you own a socket set you can do this mate.
My engine is still striped down at the mo, hoping to get it back together in the next couple of days, the snow and cold have put me off from going out side to bloody cold.

They should be with you in a day or two. I've cleaned the filth off for you though it's the grime you cannot see that slowly robs performance.
Ho ho ho

Good work matey, and thanks for the double quick turnaround.....especially at this time of year. I used to work for a guy who'd worked in filters for years, so I already knew that something can look clean but be blocked to hell on a microscopic level. At least the injectors I sent you were blocked on a "bloody obvious" level, lol.Injectortune wrote:Oh no they're not!N00b wrote:Holy thread revival Batman.

Just to let you all know, I sent my injectors away (to James) out of my m50 2.5 and I have to say i'm over the moon with the results!!! I can't vouch for him enough. It was like my injectors were his sole priority in life, I think I even recieved an email past nine o'clock at night to let me know about them. Ive just put them back in and the difference is unbelievable. More power especially low down, it seems way more punchy, and somehow smoother.
Thanks for a top service!!

As with most things on an E30, much more gains per £ are to be had by getting the thing running as BMW intended, than by fitting aftermarket 'tuning' parts!

Roughly 2 hours though as I don't have a printer (for the report) in my workshop I prefer drop off/collections to take place over consecutive days. As I can clean several sets at once I am able to service your injectors in one day.HairyScreech wrote:only just seen this, your only a few miles from me, between two of us we have 4 sets of e30 injectors that could do with doing and maybe a set for the turbo ka, ill check it out and get back to you in the new year.

Why not nip down to Maplin and get yourself an ultrasonic cleaner in the New Year sales. Mine only cost around £30 just before Christmas, and works pretty effectively.
Then you can ultrasonically clean your injectors yourself for a fraction of the cost of taking them to a specialist.

Because a £30 ultrasonic bath designed to clean dust from electronic components and toffee from Granny's dentures won't shift 25 year old varnish stuck to E30 fuel injectors. I use a 600W cleaner for injectors and a 1Kw cleaner for carburettors/heads etc.Speedtouch wrote:Why not nip down to Maplin and get yourself an ultrasonic cleaner in the New Year sales. Nor will it flow/spray test the injectors, fit new service parts, provide a before/after test report, warranty its work, diagnose problems or post in this thread when it really should be working.
Thanks for your suggestion though.

I gave my injectors to James to service for me just before Christmas. Fitted them today and am very pleased with the results. Much more responsive and smooth. 60 odd quid well spent!

I'm happy to keep my offer open for you. Just send me an email when you are ready.
James.
Received my injectors back this morning which, when you consider I didn't post them until the 23rd, is bloody good service in my opinion.
Sadly, I can't get them back into the car until next week.....but I don't mind admitting I'm a little excited to see the difference (mainly on my wallet, lol).
Thanks again James. As soon as I've got them fitted and running I'll leave appropriate feedback.

Before:-asmith88 wrote:what did the report show? much difference?
Injector 1=138 cc/min
Injector 2=141 cc/min
Injector 3=135 cc/min
Injector 4=138 cc/min
Injector 5=141 cc/min
Injector 6=138 cc/min
After:-
All 6 injectors now running at 150 cc/min.
Spray patterns were fair with 2 "fair/good" comments, whereas now they all score "Good".
Just a bit gutted I can't get them in the car right now
If you contact James through his website, he'll send you the payment details. Given that he clearly doesn't respect the holidays and that he emailed me at 3am to say thanks for my payment, I'd guess that if you do this now you'll get a reply back today.500 wrote:Can anyone send me the paypal and postal address for injectortune so I can pay before the VAT changes at midnight
Thanks
Adam.
BTW, if you miss the VAT deadline you'll only be £1.29 out of pocket.....so I wouldn't worry too much mate.
Got my injectors fitted and the car does feel a little more lively and responsive. James sends back the old parts he's replaced and they were completely buggered it has to be said.
It'll be a while before I can see what difference this has made to the fuel economy, but already I'm pleased with the results.
