Bit more stripping today and what was discovered shocked me!! I knew the beam bushes were shot but the words "f*cked beyond belief" probably are more apt

First up though, for the OEM deviants, the much mentioned battery in place!!!! Much happier with the look under the bonnet now!!

Image

Now back to the rear, Heres a few shots but check the offside beam bush!! . The outer parted company witht he inner with no persuasion at all. No wonder it was on it's arse!!

Image
Image
Image

And yes the Brake Tee Peice bolt came undone with no issues!! :D

Beam and the arms along with all the little bits are now back at home ready for cleaning, painting and for Barry to fit the new bushes. Happy days!!!

Just getting a list of parts together for a few bolts and clips etc. I've bought the two main fuel lines fron front to rear part numbers 16121179681 & 16121179682. Also runnin the same route is the front to rear brake line.

In addition to these three theres a fourth steel pipe that runs along the inner sill. Similar diameter to the fuel lines and I think (and so does Si) it's a fuel breather. But I've scoured the real OEM site and cannot find a part number.

Anyone who can locate it and give me a part number gets a pint at the next meet?

Im sure its number 11 but its not listed.

The fourth metal pipe is a vent and it vents underneath the brake servo.

I saw that bit but was confused as my pipe runs along the nearside sill. That expansion tank and all the rest is on the offside?

If i cross reference the part number above (from topless) it comes up as 09/83 to 09/87? Mines an '89??????

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... =10&hl=116

Topless, yes please if you can confirm it's the pipe that runs the length of the NEARSIDE sill and then the part number, I'd really appreciate it. :D :D :D

no problem trev
not really sure what it does, ?
it runs down the n/s sill and up to the engine bay, more often than not it isn't used ?

it also seems to disapear into the top area of the tank have you dropped your tank down to see where it goes/fixes on ?
I am only replacing it cos i want a shiny one ! winkeye

Tanks still in at present as I ran out of time. All the fuel filter and the rest of it is still connected.

The fact it "looks" unused is because it's a breather. It just vents the tank?

I too want a shiney one also.

Its a vent so joins to nothing in the bay.

Trev you are roaring ahead of me, haven't touched the touring turd yet this holiday  just as well you are doing the rear end with bushes like that, anyone would think you didnt look after the car and drove it too fast :o

Dan, nice idea might just have to steal that :o: My guess is that Trev will be spending the money on the oem part, being a bufty and all

I've got one of those pipes hanging up new in my garage and i've always wondered where it went. Now i know

The 88 facelift cars don't have this long breather pipe down the sill. Noe do they have whats pictured here. It just vents out by the tank but i can't exactly remember how

Theres the confusion. Mines an 89?

Do you think it carried it over due to the convertibles not being facelifted til much later? Having said that, it's not listed under my chassis number on realOEM.

just been in the dealers and he reckons part numbers 16131179729 which is 1365mm long and 16131178629 which is 640mm long, both from 09/87 and for cat equipped cars. The longer one is..... Wait for it....... £54 8O . The shorter one is cheaper but f*ck me, Not even I can warrant that!!!

On looking at that Real OEM link that Barry posted, I reckon item 11 (part number 16131177465) is the same pipe as Dan has above which is the earlier set up. Look closely and item 12 is the rubber donkle on the left hand end.

So I'm off to look for some 8mm fuel tubing to bend myself!!!

It clips to the side of the chassis rail, opposite the fuel lines, you can see it in this favourite pic

Started refurbing the LSD today and noticed a weepy output seal so best strip it then  .

Cleaned the case and was quite pleased with the paint finish, looks fairly OEM. Except obviously i've then lost the white "S" denoting that it's a slipper.

So me being the 2009 OEM homo that I am, I began to play with some fonts and paper. It's not perfect but i reckon unless you put an original side by side, you'd be hard pressed to tell.

Gonna have to be careful where I jack this up now. Will need a rubber block for the jack I recon. :o:
