I'm looking to do the suspension on my car and the 'ECP kit' seems to be in my budget. However, I don't want to compromise on quality and if the coilovers would be a better bet, I'd rather save a few pennies and be patient!
Coil-overs, IMO, are overkill for road use.
The extra ££ they cost could go on uprated brakes and a few new suspension bushes to tighten things up...

Hmm..The car will not really see trackdays, but the handling needs be special. I've already got new bushes allround along with a BBK lined up..

Coil-overs are indeed a bit much for a car that never sees the track. You will get handling that is exemplary with decently matched dampers and springs. I do track my car and still don't see the need for coil-overs ~ I just don't do enough track-days in a year to warrant going that route. And besides, the roads I drive on a dreadful. Coil-overs would not make for a pleasant experience driving on them.

If you want 'special handling' then a 60 drop on the front wont do you any favours.
The lower you go the stiffer your springs will get so that it doesn't bottom out. In my experience of E30's, they become very skittish with overly stiff suspension. If you add 17"+ wheels to the mix you'll probably find it'll bounce around bumpy corners...

Maybe coil-overs are your way forward, cos then you can adjust the rebound, ride height, etc., until you get exactly what you want.

lol all this fighting!!

i bought a hot tuning kit for my astra around 2 years back, it was the coilover kit for about £150, I loved it!! it was stiff and lowered more than i needed, i was able to lower the front around 100mm, BUT!!!! 3 months in i broke the top of the front right shock (the threaded bit that screws to the cup) i sent images to them and they sent me a replacement with in a week or so!. i was happy and i still have the kit, BUT it will be very very very very very stiff!!.

also if you want to look in to the coilover kit that you can mollest the original shocks and add this threaded adapter, i would say that this will lower more than 30mm.

Euro performance offers a full apex kit for £255, i like apex kits but i bet there will be some one who dosnt! but this is about all i can help with :) hope it helps!
