In an effort to combat tyre wear and to improve handling, I'd like to correct the rear camber on my lowered 318is. As I'm fitting a new diff and M3 running gear over the next week or so, I'll have the perfect oppertunity to make one of these:

Has anyone done this?

Shouldn't be too hard as far as I can see and BMW have made it easy by producing the eccentric bolts. I shall be getting a price for these soon.

Part numbers: 33 32 1 095 102 for the bolt, 33 32 1 093 456 for the washer (this 'keys' into the nut to allow adjustment).

All I'd have to then do is elongate the holes in the subframe tabgs and weld 'guides' onto the tangs themselves.

I think it'll be rather swish. Will keep you posted..

Any input?

Or maybe exessive wheelspin? :D

This sounds good, I don't have M3 suspension though :( . I think the K-Mac adjustable bushes are good enough for me at the moment but I'll keep this in mind for the future.

Tng21 wrote:i dont have m3 susp. either, aston, what have you done to urs to sort out the camber a bit as i also have a 83 323i, cars been slammed and wheels lean in far too much at the top, just had new tyres to so need to get summit done asap
Mine isn't low. The springs are supposed to be about 1" shorter, although sometimes it seems to be standard ride height at the back, so it probably doesn't have any camber problems anyway. I also use mine on the track so I want a bit of negative camber.

I have the K-Mac bushes to help as well. I think they would be ok for most people, the main problem is that they can't adjust camber and toe seperately. If you adjust the camber the toe is adjusted as well. They probably can't adjust the camber as much as those custom suspension bits could but I think the custom bits would only really be necessary for very low cars or for racing? If I was fitting M3 suspension I would probably do it anyway though while it was all apart and because I do race I might look at doing it in the future.

The ireland engineering kits seem to have those bmw parts!! They cost a fortune and the e39 bolts are 3 quid each!

Just on this, was having a look at it and I can't figure something out, forgetting about toe adjustment for the moment, if you only have a vertical slot cut for camber adjustment and had the bolt set so it was right at the bottom of the slot, what stops the bolt from sliding up to the top again? The tabs on the side only stop the bolt from rotating, which it won't want to do anyway. Unless when you welly it right up on the nut it can't move..is that the answer?

That's the way, welly it up. Better than the Kmac setup in that the metal isn't a self lubricating plastic so is much less likely to slip..

Many car suspension designs use this type of adjustment, BMW is just one of them.

I've ordered the parts to do this at the weekend. I'll let you know how I get on and hopefully post some piccies...Got LOADS to do. Rear beam, beam bushes, all brake lines at rear, re-underseal, swap wishbones for M3 ones, get tyres for 15"s, fit braided hoses, fit new M3 front ARB droplink, get MOT etc etc etc..

AAAAHHH!
