Tracking woes

Hi all, where is the best place to get your tracking adjusted? I've had it done on a previous car by Motosave and they were crap. Took 'em three attempts and it still wasn't right. My local BMW dealer quoted me "Probably two hours labour plus parts"!!! Where he got parts from I don't know but they're bound to say I need this, that and the other doing. Can anyone recommend a chain ie Kwik Fit ?

The dealer quote was probably for a full alignment check, not just the tracking, and as for parts - there is no point in setting up the tracking, on front suspension that is half clapped out.
I don't think you would find anybody who knows what they are talking about, who would recomend Q***kfit for anything - you would almost certainly need four new tyres, new brakes, new dampers and a new exhaust.
If I was looking to get the job done for me, I would try a small local independant tyre dealer, and watch them do the whole job.

Got it done at Kwik Fit for Ԛ£23.99 today, all spot-on. My car's a minter - new exhaust, new tyres etc - so nothing for them to 'recommend' that I have done (bastards)! They used a four wheel laser alignment device which seems to have done the trick. I'm sure BMW would do a better job but I can't afford the dough and certainly couldn't afford any of THEIR 'recommendations'!

Well they did a bad job right away, because the Kwik Fit chart says that they cannot do the Alignment on a E30 because it needs weights to be added to to a correct alignment and they should only ever forward you onto BMW. I hear you say but its all spot on, well if they did their job they would look on the chart to see what the settings are for the E30 and they would then tell you that they dont have the settings as the Chart refers them to tell you to go to a Dealer.
Rant over!
It really annoys me when people get screwed over like that (Ԛ£23 down the drain if you ask me)

Well I rang before I took the car down and the chap on the 'phone asked what car it was, so I'm sure he would have told me they couldn't do it there and then. Once there, the guy seemed to know what he was doing and it certainly drives a whole lot better than when I took it in. I'm sure BMW would do a great job and it would be nice to let them do it but I can't afford to blow Ԛ£150 on the task, not right now. What makes you so sure Kwik Fit can't do it? Do you work for them? Is your opinion based on current data or when you visited Kwik Fit five years ago? Listen, I'm no fan of these fast chains, great for an exhaust or some tyres but usually sh*te for anything else but the fact remains that for Ԛ£23.99 my tracking woes have been sorted.
