It's opinion time again please folks!
I've been looking around (here and fleaGay) for a 370mm MTech1 steering wheel ever since I bought my Touring. In all those 18 months, I've only found one and the Dude let me down on it.
I know that these are as rare as hens teeth and no longer available from BMW, so I've decided to cast my net elsewhere and go for an aftermarket 'wheel of around 350/360mm.
I want something that looks "period", so buying a new one is out of the question as the latest offerings will look out of place.
I'd prefer 4 spokes (like the Alpina 'wheel) but will settle for 3 if that's all I can find.
How about this Momo??

Any other suggestions please (photo's would be appreciated)?? Only one no-no I can think of - not Mountney/Astrali please!
TIA
Stuart.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

Exactly! That's why I asked. Some of you guys may be able to come up with an idea that I hadn't thought of.

Strangely.... I know MTech2's are popular, but personally I don't like them.
Zayyan wrote:Tech Is are always about, and cheap too!
I know they're always about, but not in 370mm. They're not always cheap either. One 385mm went on fleaGay the other day for over Ԛ£60!

Oops didn't realise there were 2 sizes
I stand by my "they always seem cheap" statement though, like this one:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MTec-1-Steering-w ... dZViewItem
And I'm sure I've seen a few on the Zone for about 20 quid as well.
Anyway on second thoughts, I suppose it doesn't matter what the wheel looks like; feel is most important so go for the Momo if it's the right size

Dude.... You have the 3-spoker and I'll gladly take the 4-spoke. That's gotta be rarer than the 370mm MTech1 - I've never seen one that stylee afore.

I know! If it's good enough for Alpina, Hartge (and Schnitzer, I believe) it's good enough for me!
318-is wrote:what u got on there at the moment mate?
The SE "sports" stylee 3-spoke leather 'wheel - standard fit on 320i Tourings.

I don't want a steering wheel that badly! Not as if it makes the car go any better, is it??

My 323i had that wheel ^ . What is it? Standard E30 wheel? I have a Personal steering wheel now with a carbon fiber look centre which I normally would like but it matches the carbon fiber look on the Momo gear knob I have and fits in with the dark interior ok. I also had no choice when I got them, I needed new ones because mine were broken and I got those second hand fairly cheap.

Also please excuse the pedals in those pictures. I normally wouldn't have them, they are actually worse than standard to drive with, but I was trying to increase the brake pedal height for heel & toe when I brake hard.

Mmmm...... That's quite a nice wheel.
The wheel in my car is what BMW call a "Sports" 'wheel. .....Well, I guess it is sporty compared to the plastic 4-spoke thing fitted to the poverty spec cars.

It was standard on SE (6-pot) and Lux (4-pot) models

Ok, thanks essbee & Zayyan. If it was classified as a sport type wheel I guess that is why it was on my car, it's a type of special edition 323i with LSD and Recaros and stuff.
The wheel I have now says Personal on it and I think that is a brand of steering wheel. Not sure where to get them or if they still make them, I got mine secondhand. Those MTech II wheels look nice.

But.........
I could have another plan up me sleeve
essbee wrote:I'd prefer 4 spokes
I'm still looking on fleaGay (Wor Lass says I'm addicted!). I've just found a 4-spoker I'd really like, but it'll need re-leathering. These things always come at the wrong times, don't they?
I might put the Raid 'wheel on, get the 4-spoker (assuming I win it!) done-up and then punt the Raid on again.

Hi Gareth. I did reply to the PM that I recieved, it seems there are problems with the system at the moment.
Thanks for the offer, but I don't really fancy a D-shape wheel.
Cheers
Stuart.
