I've got a sub and want to mount it to the bulk head of my van.

Anyone got any ideas what to mount it on to stop vibration?

Jamie.

How about mounting some 18mm thick MDF to the bulkhead, then fitting the sub to that.

It'll need to be at least that thick so it doesn't resonate, and it's what the majority of "off the shelf" sub cabinets are made of.

I've got some 18mm MDF, but I'd of thought that's pretty hard and would cause vibration through the bulkhead?

Shouldn't be a problem, only way it will resonate is if you do a crap job of securing it to the bulkhead.
As the fixings will be the cause.

using some RTV (sealant) between the panel and MDF will help prevent rattling as the panel vibrates against the MDF

As already mentioned, If your not convinced you'll do a decent job of attaching aforementioned MDF smear the mating surface with silicone sealant before screwing or bolting it to the bulkhead

You could use "Birch" ply too, but that's expensive.
