Right guys i have gone from a small cold morning porblem where the car would stuggle to start first time and cut out then after a bit of a run at 1500 rpm ran fine for the rest of the day.
So iv changed quite a few things hoses temp sensors etc.... and was left with just the AFM so i bought one off hear. The AFM originally fitted to the car is 0280 202083 and the one i bought is 0280 202082.
The car is a 1990 320i se saloon and with the new AFM fitted the car runs awful tickover is all over and it takes a good 5 attempts to start, it jerks up hills and the amount of spoke is unreal.
So i figured seen as its not running right after nearly two days of letting th ECU get used to it i decied to check the mixture screw and there was a massive difference from the original to the new one.
So i adjusted it till it was the same and the car runs good, but its still hot from today any help would be nice as its pissing it down with snow dont fancy getting stuck due to bad running.
When i say a massive difference it was about 2.9mm higher than the one fitted. I dont have access to a gas tester sooo need a bit of help till i get one.

I thought afms were set at the factor to suit the speciic engine they were attached to, so different units from differen cars could well be set differently, and will be virtually impossible to tune properly without a gastester, although by trial and error you should be able to get somewhere in the right ballpark.

I was of the same understanding but nearly 3mm and the car ran really ruff me thinks someone else has fiddled. Like i say the car doesnt kick out as much smoke etc but im not sure if i should risk it or just go put the old AFM back on.
Ok seen as i couldnt come to an answer the other day i just put my old afm back on which once started and run for 30 seconds runs fine but not sure where to go now. Firstly is the 0280 202082 correct as on http://www.atpelectronics.co.uk/Catalogue/bmw.htm it says its for a 320 but also for a 525 so im slightly confussed. Any help would be much appreciated.
