What should i look for?
Mine needs replacing..... it just went bang moving it off a ramp, another expense!!!
Whats the diffrent ratios? and what would be best for a 320?
Can i get a re-con lsd?
What sort of price should i pay for one? if i get a secondhand one how much would it cost to get it rebuilt?
Many Thank
Adam

Is it a large case LSD?
It's impossible to guess at repair costs without knowing what's wrong with it, if it's only CWP failure, it could be cheapish to repair. (Ԛ£120 ish for labour plus the cost of an open diff for the donor CWP)
Does it not drive at all??

If yours is a large case, any other large case diff will fit straight on!

I can't tell mate.
Probably small if it's the original 320i diff?
Which means you will need to adjust the length of the prop.

Will i need a 325i prop?
Anything else?

You do not need a 325i prop as it won't fit. The 325i gearbox is longer.
You have a small case diff, the large case is beefier and heavier.
Make sure you get the output flanges with the replacement diff as large and small case flanges are not interchangeable.
To fit you'll nee to drop the exhaust slightly and remove the front heatshield. The prop has a nut rearwards from the centre bearing, loosen this and shove the rear half of the prop towards the front of the car as far as it will go.
Then fit the diff to the car, all the mounting pionts are the same. Finally tighten the prop nut back up (not too tight) and refit the heatshield and exhaust.
Cheers,
Iain T
