Hi guys and girls.

Steve at Trackaction Online has offered to run another trackday in association with the Zone (as well as paying their Traders Fee's :D )

The last day that they ran at Oulton Park was a resounding success and they are now offering a new year treat to blow away those January blues.

Here's the crack from Steve.

........................................
Brands Hatch Trackday Feb 5th 2010

2010 is nearly with us so we are looking forward to the new season and we’re starting in the south this year with a Trackaction-Online club day at Brands Hatch.

This will be an open pitlane trackday on the Indy circuit with a 105db noise limit. As usual we will be limiting the numbers to ensure that everyone gets plenty of tracktime and we will have free instruction available for any drivers that want it.

Brands is a great circuit, fast, flowing and very challenging so well worth a visit and we’ve got the usual club pricing available. The list price for the day is £150 but we’ve agreed a club rate of £125; passengers can be signed in for £10 and extra drivers for £35, garages can be pre-booked for £20.

Thanks to the support of clubs and forums like the E30 Zone we’ve had a great 2009 and we’re hoping to carry that into next year so if you’d like to come along you can book HERE, if you post up on this thread I’ll PM you the discounted booking code.

Hope a few of you can make it along!

Steve H
Trackaction-Online

PS - If you are looking likely to end up with socks and yet another Clarkson DVD, it might be a good time to drop a few hints to the better half that this would make a good xmas pressie!

................................................

So come on zoners, help support our traders and get your first bargain of the year to boot.

Thanks

Chris (E30Zone Team)

p.s.
here's the Oulton thread so you can read for yourself how well it went. :thumb:

Thanks for posting that up Chris, we usually get a good showing form the Zone for most of our track and drift events so I'm hoping this will be the same!

If anyone has any questions about the day just shout up, if you are a first timer on track that's no problem - any driver can book a free instruction session on the day to make sure you get the best out of it!

oooh, now this is tempting :D
on a practical note, how restictive is the 105db limit? Only my exhuast seems to have no wadding in it any more and i'd hate to pay out and then get banned :?
oh and i assume helmets are mandatory? i'll have to get busy and either cut 3" out of my neck/torso or sort out a lower seat, otherwise my head won't fit in :D

Hi Gareth, 105db is just below jet fighter volume so normally it's just the daft Evos and stuff like that which can get caught out. I'm sure some of the other E30 regulars will be able to tell you what they normally score but my Westfield runs around 98-101 and my supercharged Peugeot is about 95-98 so I would think you'd be OK (every three db is actually double the volume so 104db is eight times as loud as 95!).

Helmets are mandatory but if you get your neck altered now I'm sure it will have healed by then winkeye .

If its any help mine is a totally stock exhaust with an M52 motor and it was 87 db at oulton, i think if you could get to brands when there is a trackday on they might sound check your car for you (probably for a small charge  )

way below 105 mate. Even bike engined westfields with small straight through silencers even pass 105db tests ok so pretty much any e30 will be fine.

will this be open to a deviant brother in a 205 rallye with a 16V saxo VTS engine in, for an initial outing? or is it BMW's only?
also, do the cars need to present a MOT or anything or can he arrive on a trailer behind mine? only it'll be a rush to get it all sorted by then and it's mot/tax less at the moment.

We'll have all makes there and there's no requirement for MOT although we do expect the cars to be of a standard that they will be safe and reliable(ish!) on track :thumb:

it'll be all up and running and built to a reasonable spec with new brakes / tyres etc etc. it's just a long way off being finished yet.
my M30 beastie would make a perfect tow car too.

if me and my brother take a car each, do we need to pay to be additional drivers / passengers to have a go in each others cars?

No, once you are signed in as a driver you can drive or passenger in any car that is booked in (helps if the owner doesn't mind  ).

Kos, I'll send you the booking info.

I would love to do this too...could someone send me the info please??
This would be my first track day so would all be very new to me...but what are rules and regulations on the car etc??
Do you have to have a roll cage and racing seats/harnesses as a requirement or would standard seats and belts ok??
I am going to oder my cage any day now,but if it was'nt fitted in time does this mean it's not allowed on the track??(sorry if a stupid question, but just not sure??) :o:
Thanks in advance guys!! :D

Your car doesn't need a cage or race seats etc. Any normal road car is acceptable. The most important thing is that it is in good mechanical condition. Bits of trim falling off, peeing oil out and running with low coolant or old brake fluid are all a bad idea. Change the coolant, make sure the fan is working properly, nothing is leaking and some fresh oil, filters and brake fluid should see you right. If brakes and tires are good then you should have a blast.

If there is instruction available on the day I recommend you get a session with an instructor, the amount you will learn will be better value for money than any performance upgrade you can do on the car. :D

Have fun.

We don't check or scrutineer any aspect of the cars and all the Palmersport cars at Bedford run on LPG so I can't see a problem Gareth.

Danny and Ben, I'll send you the details by PM.

To be totally upfront Ben, we are not the same guys as the old Trackaction, they packed in some years ago. but hopefully we can live up to their standards winkeye .

I just have another couple of questions if somebody could please answer for me as this will be my first track day...

I have not booked a garage on the day,so what happens when you need to fill the car back up with fuel if you were to run out etc...or if you need to change brake pads or spare wheel??
I see the track day is an open pit-lane...does this just mean you can do these jobs on the pit-lane or did i need to book a garage??
Without a garage is there somewhere to leave your spare can of fuel/tools as obviously you can't have them in the car with you...

Sorry if these seem stupid questions, but as this is all new to me,i have no idea!! :o:

The only stupid questions are the ones people are afraid to ask....we all learnt from asking.

Open pit lane is a term used to decribe how the track time is alotted. Some days are sessioned. This means that you are assigned a group and that group has a 20 minute window where they can go out on track, then the chequered flag is waved and everyone comes into the pit. Once the track is clear, the next group goes out for their 20 minute session and so on throughout the day. If you miss you group or come in early, then its your loss.

An open pit lane day is much better. Basically the track opens after the safety breifing and doesn't close (unless it is red flagged for an accident etc) untill lunch time. then it reopens after lunch untill the end of the day. You can go out and come in as you please, you are not restricted to when you can be on track.

Pit garages are basic. They have no tools or petrol (although some tracks have their own refuelling station, but don't count on it being available all day, sometimes they only serve during the lunch break etc, or not at all), I would advise taking a 20L jerry can and then filling both them and the car up again at dinner time at the nearest public petrol station. the garages merely offer shelter for your car and equipment. If you don't get one you will be able to park up in the paddock (behind the garages) and you'll be open to the elements. I would advise a garage unless you are expecting scorching weather. :D

For anyone wanting to book a room we've got a deal with the hotel that's right next door. £60 for single B&B or £70 for two of you.

This is at the THISTLE BRANDS HATCH, we have got some rooms on hold for the Thursday night so to book one please phone Stephanie Keep on 01474 855 700 quoting TAOL040210. After 21st Jan they will no longer be reserved so it's just down to if they have any rooms left - to check phone the same number and quote "Track Rate of £60 BB" to get the reduced price. At the moment there is a block of rooms reserved for another function on the Friday night so they currently have no availability but if they are not confirmed by the 22nd Jan they will become available as well for anyone who wants to stop the night after the event.
