i've never been stopped in 11 yrs.

unless you count 1 time in my mineral blue when i had odd reg plates,
the bloke who made the front plate for the mot got two numbers back to front
[and it passed the mot  ] the error flashed up on a camera car.
i explained what must have happened and after a laugh about it with plod as it had been on the car for 6 mths without being spotted [even at 5-6 meets] :?

i said i'd get it done.
plod asked did i live in sheffield or southampton as the car plates came back registered in two different places. lol.

I got pulled over about a week ago around 11 o'clock in the night, now I had turned right into a side street with a long sweeping bend into a very tight residential street.

Blues and two flashing in the back, so I thought I'd pull over and let him pass, he parks up behind me. I waited for around 30 seconds and the copper still hadn't come out of his car. Stepped out and waited for him on the pavement.

He comes out of his car, and asks 'Do you own the car?', 'Yes' I replied. 'How far do you live?', 'Literally 2 minutes away from here'.

'Right, the reason why I stopped you is because it SOUNDED as though you was speeding!' At this point I didn't know whether the copper was having a laugh, bearing in mind that the street is very tight and the max I was doing was around 20 mph.

I just looked at him and replied 'Well if it sounded as though I was speeding surely you can bring up on your speed cam placed in your car?'

He looked at me very annoyed, 'Off on your way and don't let me catch you again!'

I do wonder though,do they say to themselves that car looks so unbeliveably sh1t it must be legal as no one in their right mind would drive it if otherwise.

I reckon the cars that attract attention are the ones which look scruffy and uncared for rather than the ones that look down right thoroughly abused, like mine.

I'm sure there are some t**ts out there. It's like any profession. I have never been pulled over by the police but whenever I have had reason to chat to them, like the time I was driven into by a dozy old bloke who "didn't see me" (in a Fiat Panda :o: ), they were really friendly and helpful. They even gave the insurance company a statement a month after when the other driver claimed it was my fault.

Maybe it's just something to do with it being rural Sussex Police...

If they want to help you they will, due to this being a car based forum though, most will associate the police with being pulled over for speeding or similar in which case 90% of the time they are complete arses and try their hardest to pin an offence on you evidence or not.

Ive had a few run ins with police for other things and the process has always been to slap me with as many charges as possible regardless of the situation. Ive always paid dearly for this, hence my hatred for the scummers.

TBH I cant think of any time they have helped me or any of my direct family either, the only time they are seen in our street is when they are called to come and get rid of the chavs that are smashing up the kids park, even then they cant do their job and the chavs just circle and come back.
At the end of the day we pay their wages, they are employed by us, and all they seem to do is take the easy path with their scamera vans and parking fines

I was walking back with a friend from the barbers and as i approached my house, an unmarked car drove over the grass and a sarg + two colleagues jumped out. Random stop and search - lot of drug dealing going on in the area bla bla..The searched revealed shit all but one of the coppers stumbled across my house keys which happen to have my car keys attached with them. They wanted to search my car!!! After doing so and finding zilch, the copper locked the car and said "ooh..central locking? How old is this car?"

working with BTP closely, and can safely say it all depends on what officer you get and his 'discretion'.

Had a level crossing awareness event at Merton recently and 80 drivers were found with or smoking cannabis - in a day!!!

I got pulled over in my old daytona violet E34 525i sport. The reason being they thought i was carrying a body in the back as they saw something wrapped up in a duvet... It was infact my bass amplifier and extension cab i had on the back seats as i was on my way home from playing a gig with my band in Leeds, it was about 3.30 am. I wrapped them up in the duvet so it would protect the leather and windows from any damage etc... lol he was actually sound and admitted that was what he thought and let me go straight away after seeing a load of music gear in the back

I never had a single problem until I got an E30! I used to like the police, and I was never worried because I'd never done anything wrong.

Now I'm constantly paranoid (I don't do drugs before you suggest weed!) of a vectra behind me wanting to pull me over AGAIN, asking me how long I've owned my car, if it's insured, and why is it so loud? To which I'm polite and say 'well it passed a police inspection like that when some tw@t in the force thought my car wasn't roadworthy because it had a welded diff' (he was clueless about cars).

The one time I really had a problem, and was potentially due to go to court, the civilian who'd reported me must have decided it was more hassle than it was worth and they didn't tell me that or anything! I've still not heard and that was 8 months ago!

So yes, they CAN be all right, but 98% of the one's involved in anything to do with cars are total pricks.

My Turd's of '87 vintage, worthy of being pulled over at the moment as the MOT expired a few weeks ago :( Not that i'm driving it,my track record isn't to good :o:

On subject of being pulled over, and I have, many times, most coppers are a pain in the back side with little knowledge of vehicle condition requirements.

My missus got pulled in the Touring as the back box had broke, fair enough it was very loud. But then they checked the tyres and told her all were illegal except perhaps pass side front which was just about ok,they then gave her a ticket to get all tyres changed.
I was fuming, knowing my tyres were low but by no means illegal and all above limits, took it to my MOT chap and asked him to check them all (without saying why) and he said all were fine except pass side front which would warrant an advisory on MOT

When I told him why I got them to check them he said he gets a regular flow of ticketed drivers in for checks and 99% of them are fine, the Police just don't know what they are looking at.

Worse thing is the coppers decided to tell my missus (who had my 2 year old in the front baby seat) about this woman who crashed her car, baby killed, bald tyres etc etc etc. Tossers.

only ever had 2 experiances with the cops in my E30's. first one was my old tech1 sport i was parking up at the shop on the main road and they drove past me then reversed back put the window down and told me i had a headlight out then went on there way. second was my 318is stopped me for a taillight being out. never even checked the car over which i was well pleased at as I had just bought it and was driving it home. it was taxed and insured. MOT was 3 weeks out and the 2 rear tyres were bald  saying that both cars were clean and tidylooking
