Hi guys,

Need some help with a couple of points...

M20 is out and i'm just getting the bay ready for the M50 2.5.

1, Using E28 535 mounts, which way round do they go? I read other posts but i want it confirmed if possible. As in which one is turned round, not right/left.

2, Engine lowered from the top or lift the car over the engine? It was a bugger pulling the M20 out so im wondering how the M50 is gonna slot in with trans.

3, The obvious prob (again).. Manifolds, Anyone that is good with welding or knows anyone that can help would be great as this is gonna stop my beast getting back on the road.
- I have e34 or e36 manifolds, a e36 downpipe and an e30 325i system.

4, Oxygen sensor, got one at last! How have you guys fitted it? On the e36 325i, BMW have joined the pipes to allow for one sensor but i was hoping for twin pipes front to back. I guess its gonna be same deal as e36 325i unless anyone has any other ideas?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I had an M50 powered E30 8)

2: The Manifold i had looked heavily modified, it was a 2 and 4 split, looked a bit weird but made an interesting sound!

4: I had a single oxy sensor at the front of the exhaust, altho the car ran fine without it. Heres the thing tho, everyone said i should connect the sensor up as the car will run better with it in. So i got it connected up but then it was hesistant under full throttle, so i put a Viper Chip (i think?) in and it cured that. Not sure what went on there...

Cant help you with the other stuff tho, sorry :?

Another quick question...

What has everyone done about the gear linkage?

I'm using e36 gearbox on e30 mounts..

I've tried the m20 and m50 and neither work, should i try to combine them or do i have to do a little more modification than that?

Im not sure what to do with it, I've got them both out..

The e36 bar is bent and hits the prop - Its about an inch shorter than the e30 bar, which is straight.

if i cut the e30 bar to the same length as the e36 and welded it back together, do you recon that would do the job??

I've tried the e30 linkage in the car but its too long and you can select many gears. the e36 doesnt really give the best selector tho as it hits the front of the selector hole.

I'm stuck :(

IIRC there is something written somewhere about turning over the bent, E36 selector so that it clears the prop.
I'm sure it's on one of the Yank sites.

UPDATE: Sorted the linkage.

Just bent the e36 5mm shorter. then spun the lever round and its perfect.

Few more jobs then it'll be on the road.

Im not sure whether to get a mobile welder round to have a go at the exhaust or to try it myself or to tow to a garage.

any thoughts?
