Having a dilemma.... want to do more track days without risking my other pride and joy, so thought the Sport would be a good start. Trouble is its a good car, mint diamond black bodywork, black leather etc....i bought it for 4k last year so is it too good to strip out all those extras and fit proper seats and a roll cage etc....My problem is that i can't be arsed to sell it and look for something else, also, better the devil you know than the devil you don't as my father used to say!!!

What do you reckon guys, give me your thoughts.

Dont tear up a perfectly good sport, youll make many zoners cry!

Altho seriously it is a bit wrong tearing it up if you can sell it on for aout the same money u got it for, since it'll be worth a lot less as a Track Slag!

sports r worth silly money m8.

far better to sell it and buy a good 2 door (Ԛ£1k maybe) and add a slipper and other bits.

you'll be much better off buying a cheap one 2door or 4door or touring it doesnt make any odds, bunging in a 2.5 and an LSD stripping it and having much more fun because then you wont be worried about crashing or blowing up Ԛ£4k

That's exactly the reply i thought i would get.....

They are my thoughts too, but the thought of having to start looking for a decent base car for a track slag is not tempting. I keep looking at it thinking it just wouldn't seem right, but then it would be a great track car. Considering i have done about 100 miles in it in 12 months, it could probably do with the use!!! I must admit i am tempted by some of the M3's that are about the 6-7k mark.... probably wouldn't need to do much to one of those.

Thanks for you comments.

If you were gonna use it to track then maybe you could sell stuff off it, the leather seats would be worth a bit and if you didnt mind driving around without a bodykit the M-tech II would bring in nice money. M-tech II wheel, OBC and a few other things can probably be flogged on too!

M3 is possibly a better choice but as you said youd have to sell your Sport then go hunting for a decent one!

This..... i have also thought of, although i would like to retain some dignity whilst giving it some around Silverstone. No M-tech 2, it would be like being naked!!!! I couldn't change the look of it, thats the best bit.

Getting tired thinking about it now.....have even considered a Vauxhall VX220. I know people always say Sports are sought after, but when one is available on the zone they don't seem to sell very quick!! Maybe i'll give it a go, after its MOT on tuesday, you never know what they will find when they are poking around.

but it's your car but i think u are being silly!

Nooo, dont gut the poor car!  I will personaly cry for it lol. Just get a bit rusted 325i, mod it a little, get a slipper and track days here you come, and if you write it off its not a huge financial loss!!

*cough*

I have a fully prepared track car based on a 318iS up for sale... needs to go to a good home as I've spent a LOT of money and time on her... If you promise you'll take good care of her, I'll let you come and have a look at her...

Pics can be sent if you're interested...

Giles.

Your sport should be in a museum dude! It looks WELL tidy! If my E30's were that tidy I would have a garage door put in the front of the house and park it in the living room!

Keep it special!

Sent you an e-mail, sorry I've not sent it sooner, but you;re right, my 318iS would be a little slow after your Porsche and M3!!!!

Speak soon,

Giles.

Bloody hell guys........

Quite a reaction.....didn't think you would all be so against it, but now i have given it a bit more TLC i'm tending to agree.

Although, it did fail the MOT today, not surprised really, a 15 year motor is always gonna need something. Anyway, someone has expressed an interest in buying her so she may be saved from the perils of trackday fun!!!

*i thought it would make a pretty cool looking track slag*

Nothing major really.

Rear shock top mounts have excessive play.

Rear section metal brake pipe corroded.

Oh, and headlight alignment too low

Thats all, suppose thats not bad for an old'un.

I don't think so, it all depends on the abour rate you pay. My local garage is expensive, but i know a mechanic who works for himself, and he is much cheaper, only problem is driving it to him with no MOT. Anyway, when i get some prices i'll post them up.

im against it but not cos of any gr8 moral sports r so good crusade but purely on monetary terms.

a Ԛ£4k sport is Ԛ£4k

to buy and track slag a normal 325i will cost a fraction of that, and u can add the mtech kit and bbs etc to that too remember.
