How long would it take a standard 325i sport to run a quarter mile.
Not a stripped out track racer more like an everyday user .

Just like to know for comparison.

Thanks Paul

I'm going to guess at 15 seconds? A nice M50 2.8 car will do 14. An S50 car will do about 13.5.

I ran 15.9's in my old 325 with mods on a red hot day, but I think the 17" alpina reps and rubber band tyres didn't help.

wouldnt a bigger alloy with a larger rolling circumference help with acceleration at the expence of top end speed on a 1/4 mile drag?

smaller is better less rolling distance to cover

The opposite, it would slow acceleration and help top end, but once you're out of 3rd the old M20 donk is a bit of a gutless turd. Also the low profile rubber is worse for traction off the line as there's no give in the sidewall, so the tyre doesn't really dig in and leave a footprint. That's why you see drag cars with massive fat rears with low psi, look at the ripple on the sidewall

My quickest time was 15.3 and consistently doing 15.6's.

Thats totaly standard bar a six branch manifold.

i was in the ball park then, just 0.1 of second out, but in all forms of racing an tenth of second counts !

is it fair to say your car at least 10bhp up on stock power ? i cant recall the figues it put on the rollers.

It was 171bhp/171lbft on four different dynos when stock and with the manifold alone its up to 185bhp/190lbft.

I would have thought rubber band tyres would give better grip
And the overall circumfrance is hardly noticable tbh
205/55/15 vs 215/40/17 is about 8mm
So when your speedo reads 70mph you will be doing 69.69mph so not far out really
