Hi all

This problem has only started since the winter weather has kicked in.

When I start the car after a prolonged period of sitting still the car starts but as soon as I let go of the accelerator it will drop below idle and stall.

I have noticed that it is also 'kangarooing' more than usual too.

Any advice?

Do the usual checks for air leaks first on the rubber bellows, the old rubber could have got that little bit harder in the cold and cracked.

It could also be somthing to do with the CTS, Coolant temperature sensor.

What engine is it?

Also might be worth cleaning the throttle housing & ICV with carb.cleaner.

Saying that stonesie the coolant light came on for the first time on the check panel this morning, could that have anything to do with the CTS?

I have had the 90 degree rubber boot changed as that was split, what others should I be checking?

The plugs, leads, dizzy and rotor arm had been replaced in the summer of this year.

The revs aren't bouncing either.

Is it still worthwhile cleaning them?

Excuse me for being thick, but is the CTS also known as the blue temp sensor?

Thanks - if this sensor is khaput, will it cause the 'kangarooing' whilst sitting in traffic irrespective of whether its in gear or not?

It could do, the C192 plug might need cleaning, I think this controls the signal to that sensor. Reading threads on this subject, it appears that could often be the cause

The C192 plug is located underneath the Inlet Manifold, the wiring comes from the injectors into a connector(C192), unscrew the connector, normally water gets in there, spray WD40 & Contact Cleaner. If your unsure just use the search function for "C192"
