anyone fitted new top mounts to correct suspension geometry? whats best and would they make a difference if i only had a 60mm drop?

I think top mounts are mostly for the front suspension, it's the trailing arm bushes for the back. I think it is mostly the rear that is a problem with camber when lowering. The main reason to put top mounts on the front would be for more negative camber I think? That's what mine are for and I still don't have a huge amount of camber, maybe 2 degrees, which doesn't seem to affect tyre wear.

off-set top mounts can be used to adjust camber either way, the BMW mounts are +/- 0.5Ԛ° - depending which way round you put them in BUT you will need a left or right handed mount depending on what side and which way you want to change the camber - the mountings are handed.
www.bimmerworld.com do some at 1.25Ԛ° which i have on my car.
I think others are available with on car adjustable camber with greater range but these are more like Ԛ£300.
Tyre wear with significant camber depends on what you do with your car, I have -2Ԛ° camber but my car is used on track to race only with minimal road use. Because of the high proportion of corners to straights and cornering forces my tyres wear out on the outside first and look hardly worn at all on the inside. More negative camber would be good for my tyres and cornering grip. These track tyres are only good for about 1,000 odd miles anyway.
If your car is your road car with similar camber you will wear out the inside edges of the tyres and you would not be happy with about 1,000 miles out of the tyres! hth
