I don't know about an hour, but it will run a bit rough for a few minutes/miles while the ECU relearns its settings. I have the same thing on my 325 with a Viper2 chip. If the battery is disconnected for any length of time it runs quite rough for a while with the idle rising and falling, also giving it full juice in second causes it to momentarily cut out. A bit scary, but after a short while it all goes back to smoothness again.

I normally disconnect my battery first, then take the ecu out and change the chip. Saves frying anything

It's not needed apparently, but I can't see the gains from it either tbh!

Mate, I put a Viper2 chip in my iS and it was sorted straight from start-up, didn't need time to settle.

I don't remember disconnecting my battery either;

Once you start the car up leave it at idle for 10mins just to give it time to settle in the chip then take it for a spin. As you done all the mods go and get it CO tested otherwise you won't get the best performance out of your car(and won't pass MOT if emissions are to high).

Demlotcrew has cams aswell, not sure what make but that's the other thing i know he's done.
