Sunday night i wanted to go out, and my '91 318iS wouldn't start.
The fuel pump is not priming on terminal 15.
So, i check the relays and fuses and they're all ok. I then remove the fuel pump and give it a quick direct feed from the battery and yeah, it works. I put the fuel pump back in and start swapping relays around and still have no priming.
i do have a Clifford Concept 650 G5 alarm/immob on there, but im friends with the guy who installed it and he reckons it aint the alarm.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Please help me, as i feel like i've lost my legs without my E30!!!

Sounds very similar to prob I had recently. Try this link for info - it's for a 325i but some of the suggestions will prob cover 318is also. In the end I had a faulty crank position sensor(cable had been rubbing on pulley). HTH.

Okay guys, the problem is sorted...
However, it wasn't the crankshaft position sensor, which was a big possibility.
When I knew the relays were working and the fuel pump was working, i bridged terminal 30 and terminal 87 of the relay and the pump ran. So, I went to check for a spark and when i took the HT lead cover off and pulled the HT leads off, the spark plugs were absolutely swimming in oil!!! Turns out that the rubber seals between the rocker cover and spark plug cylinders had gone hard and had been letting oil in. The oil had saturated the plugs and was causing it not to spark. So I cleaned it all out and just kept cranking until it started, and finally, she fired!!
She's ok for now, but next saturday theres gonna be some work on her... Sump gasket, lower front cover gasket, upper front cover gasket, rocker cover gasket, spark plug cylinder gaskets and a new chain tensioner. Oil and filter and a coolant purge aswell, me thinks!!!
Cheerz for the help anyway guys
