Cheers.
The bonnet and boot had to be resprayed due to marks made by some sort of chemical which would not polish out and the drivers side rear panel had some paint damage which required spraying but apart from that its original.

Well spotted, correct on both counts :D
Williams borrowed it for the weekend when BMW held the Joy event and they loaned me a brand new 118d for the weekend.

I used to work at Williams back in 94, I know the place well :o:

I went to Tatton Park and I thought it was dreadful, not as good as previous years and was disappointing, hope it bucks up for next year :-x

My E30 will be making a visit to David Holmes for a few weeks on show, I might make a call at Williams to see if they want it winkeye

Do you tip toe to the Sheldon Arms nr the M60 for the BMW Car Club meet ??

Im not sure about Sheldon, the snobs would say its a 2p car.
And Tatton is normally all about said snobs.

I've never been to the Sheldon meet, I've seen it in the meets section on the car club site, I'm not a paid member and never will be :D

The show at Tatton was really dreadful, I had some good visits in the past and this was a big let down  I remember dozens of stands with parts galore and a huge amount of cars on show :P

It's a good finish on the sport, a few niggles to sort out before it left but it's good 8)

Anyway nice car steele and sorry to go off topic :o:

When bmw Ireland were launching the new 3 series convertible I faxed the sales managers of the Dublin dealers offering my car as a show model. Two of them never replied but number three realised what I had and took it in as a display. They serviced it for free :D :D and did a refurb on the wheels for me as well. I arrived up to see it in the dealers showroom to find lots of people looking at my convertible and nobody at the new three series

Yes I often go to the Sheldon. Hoping to make it on the 1st Dec but not sure yet. I'm sorry to hear you were not impressed with Tatton this year. Let me know what you found lacking and I'll pass it on.

It's a shame you feel that way. I am a club member and have been on the NW commitee for some years and don't regard myself as a snob. I'm an ordinary working class stiff who happens to like old BMW's. Both my cars are old with little value but are in excellent condition due to hard work. I have never felt out of place with any of the people who attend the club meets and most of them tend to own older cars. It saddens me to hear that people have that sort of belief about us.

No worries mate, it's a forum and debate is good. :D

You don't have to be a paid up member to attend the pub meets, anyone is welcome. Getting traders to events like tatton is extremely difficult. We invite lots every year. Most say they are not economically viable due to having to pay overtime to staff to man the stands etc. We do all we can to encourage any traders we can to attend but the bottom line is if they don't want to come we cannot do anything about it. This year some said they would attend but did not turn up.

Hi Steve,

Re the Tatton Park event, I found it compact and un entertaining due to the small layout :?

I've had some good years there in the past and this was by far the worst, I turned up at 10 and was gone by 10.30, maybe I should of given it bit more time but I bailed out with many others :?

So it's next Wednesday at the Sheldon, I'm working that night too

We need our own E30 meet in the North West winkeye

I think you may have left a bit early. A lot of traders and display cars were late arriving. Yes its true that size wise it has been scaled down a little but the main reason for that is that we used to share this event with the Porsche club but they provided very little input, had very few cars on display and were not bringing in many Porsche owning attendees. We are trying hard to build it up into a real Premier event but of course with the reccesion biting this year there was a reluctance when trying to drum up support from companies to spend money attending.

The Sheldon meet is on the first tuesday of the month which is the 1st, weds is the 2nd. If you make it and I'm there we can have a natter but just introduce yourself to anyone from the club and you will be made welcome.

An E30 meet would be a good idea but its hard to get people out in the winter. Maybe a sunday lunch somewhere for pub grub and a pint.

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments, to get them from other E30 owners makes the effort worth while. Like Luke from Ireland I found that many people pay more attention to my car than the new or more exotic BMW's due probably to the fact that many people have personal experience of the older mainstream models. I get lots of people saying ' my Dad had one of those' or my first BMW was one of those, and similar comments. It sometimes amazes me how much enthusiasm it seems to create in people. Thats part of the fun for me, the pleasure it gives others.
Cheers Steve.

I was going to say I thought I'd seen this car at Tatton. After I saw this car I went out and bought my is about a week later 8) 8)

I have to agree with Kieran, the Tatton show was dire this year and I didn't stay around for long.

E30 NW meet sounds like a good idea
