You should be chuffed there's so much attention - it shows people care!
But they'll care more if you hold off on the Alpina valance and Ford highbacks. - sorry but thats all they ever remind me of.

So you object to constructive comments on a public forum?bss325i wrote:Can everyone stop telling me what i should and shouldn't do.

Nobody is telling you anything, just suggesting what would complete an already very nice car. If you disagree, do it politely.
E30 highbacks are a far superior and more desirable seat than a BMW sport seat, they also look much better.
I couldn't give a hoot what people think about the alpina front spoiler or anything else. I know it looks good, is "right" for the car.
I dont want my sport to look like every other tech 2, BBS sport seats, f*ck that.
I have an E30 alpina in the pipe line but not your average one.

Barry knows his onions when it comes to BMW, and I'm sure whatever he does to the sport will look great
I look forward to the finished pics

I've always thought those highbacks looked borderline council IMHO if I'm blunt. Seen in too many other performance cars of that era and in that context not soooo unique.
Is the Alpina an E30?

TBH, that remark was not aimed at you, the person that is begining to sound like a stuck reccord!SidewaysScouser wrote:So you object to constructive comments on a public forum?bss325i wrote:Can everyone stop telling me what i should and shouldn't do.

One thing i will say though is various people keep suggesting what would look good, what i should/shouldn't do.
I have a plan and i'm sticking to it.
Council? You'd know all about that with those speaker pods!Royalratch wrote:I've always thought those highbacks looked borderline council IMHO if I'm blunt. Seen in too many other performance cars of that era and in that context not soooo unique.

^^^^ Agreed, Recaro "highback" seats are more desirable than the stock BMW sport seat, and yes, they do look better, your car is full of all of the most desirable options, Alpina, factory, and with the M3 rear seat, ///M.
The Alpina spoilers (and stripes) look great, and are period enhancements and I agree, they are "right" for the car.
If the car were mine, I'd fit E30 M3 5 stud suspension legs and 5stud M3 fitment Alpina wheels. Then you'd have the ultimate combination of Mtec2 Sport, E30 M3 handling, and with the interior bits I mentionned above, ALL the options from the ///M, Alpina and factory Sport lists.
But, like the man says, it's YOUR car.....

You are right, they dont tilt but thats no big deal. You are wrong, the thy support does extend!Simon13 wrote:chill winston, for all the love of the highbacks they can't tilt, no extention for thy support. The bmw sport seat is adjustible in everyway the highbacks aren't. So why hankar after something which is inferior to the seat to be replaced?
The only difference is the tilt mech, thats all when it comes to adjustability.
How are highbacks inferior? They have bigger bolsters so hold you in better than sport seats, i find them more comfortable as well having done plenty of miles in both types of seat.
Remeber, this is my third set of highbacks.
I'm not going to bother with an M3 rear seat now.SidewaysScouser wrote:^^^^ Agreed, Recaro "highback" seats are more desirable than the stock BMW sport seat, and yes, they do look better, your car is full of all of the most desirable options, Alpina, factory, and with the M3 rear seat, ///M.

I dont want a mish mash of alpina and ///M
All i'm building is an optioned up 325i sport with an "ALPINA 3" styling package (wheels, spoilers, steering wheel, knob and key ring), something that was available on all E30's bar the M3.

Jesus dude chill out. My car is not a mint low miles 325i Sport, so it's not worthy of the same attention to detail regarding originality - plus, how is Larry Graham's Bass gonna speak to me through the standard footwell nonsense?bss325i wrote:Council? The Recaros I can live with (tilting is massively important) but the Alpina spoiler is just going to make it look like a wannabe Alpina despite what all the brochures say.
We're just having a bit of fun man, no need to get so aggressive with everyone.
But hey, it's your thread.

A freind has recently added Highbacks to his C2, it looks superb , and they are very comfy
IMO he should have had a black re-trim but it's his car so it's not my choice !

if done right I think they look great, another guy I know has some fitted in his C1 but he has kept the cloth
this looks shite though are these BMW recaro's ? check out that console !

Explain why tilting mechs are important..Royalratch wrote:Jesus dude chill out. I'm not getting agressive, there would be a selection of emoticons if i was. I'm just beining to tire of suggestions when i have already stated what i plan to do, and stick to.
They look like aftermarket recaros with merc or E28 headrests!e30topless wrote:this looks shite though are these BMW recaro's ? check out that console !![]()

I've just read the whole 18 pages of this thread...wow!
I for one think that the Alpina spoiler will really suit it.

Tilting is all that separates a normal chair and a nice bucket type sport seat with proper cradling/thigh support.Jhonno wrote:Bollocks it is..Royalratch wrote:The Recaros I can live with (tilting is massively important)

If you look at proper sports seats, they are tilted way way back for that fit.
Like I said, these Recaros are okay but as they are shared with other (nasty) cars of the era don't feel/look special enough.

As for recaro's.. they are a better seat it's just most people havn't experienced them. They are common for a reason - they are bloody good seats and made by one of the best in the business.. also they tend not to snap hinges like the sport seats
Bollocks to this 24v scrap!
