i can't imagine powdercoating being too expensive. I know of a few options if you wanted to powder coat them, which is probably the longest lasting method tbh.

It won't, not if prepped properly. I used Halfords anti chip black on my sport springs and they came out a treat.Dezzy wrote:Paint will fake straight off. Weeks not months. Powdercoat will last a little bit longer until it get's chipped etc.
Have a look. 3rd shot down.

you need a paint with a platiciser, this enables the paint to flex without cracking. B7's anti chip stuff probably has just that.
Otherwise any paint specific for plastics should do the trick.

That's the stuff been trying to think of. My mate at work painted his springs with normal hamerite smooth. It lasted about a week before it flaked. It was prep'd properly must have not had plasiciser in.

I've powdercoated a few with good results, and haven't heard back from any customers, so I assume powder coat lasts quite well.
do you mean like the stone guard stuff?

some research on plasticisers and it turns out they are compounds that lubricate molecules, thus when applied to pant it allows the molecules to slide past each other and thus the paint can flex rather then the molecules rubbing past each other and fracturing - casuing cracks.
Powercoat is probably the best as the coating is thinner and electrostaically bonded, thus less stuff to rub against itself and thus less chance of cracking. a powerdcoat with a plasticicer would be the ideal solution.

cool what did you prime them with?
