Does it ever work when you replace a body part with a same-colour second hand spare Got a parking dent above the kidneys and another small ding mid-bonnet, so was thinking about hunting down a same-colour replacement panel instead of repair and complete respray of panel (It's glacier blue)

In my experience it does, if the colour isn't exact get some polish on it. Unless there's a real difference between the ages of the paint, you're sorted.

I would expect guards and doors easier to match than boot / bonnet which would fade more.
Definitely worth a try as it would work out a lot cheaper. Just make sure the panel isn't full of bog

give the whole car a good polish should make the colour more similar if it doesnt match perfrectly.

I have swapped bonnets between laches cars with no difference in colour.
