Hi guys, I know a few of you are running standard M20 clutches on your M50 conversions. How much torque are you putting through them? Would there be any benifit in using a 325iX clutch set-up? I'm guessing that they will take more abuse etc than a standard 325i clutch?

Any thoughts?

Whats the difference to an iX clutch? I use a Sachs clutch on the 2.8 and dont have a problem (spec in sig)
But fitted a brand new LUK clutch to the similar powered 3 litre engine and it slips around 5500rpm

Both M20 clutches btw

Looking at oem, they're different part numbers. I'm purely speculating, but generally 4x4 cars have more robust clutches. I'm going to end up having to get a paddle clutch TBH but i'm wandering for the sake of wandering.

I see what your saying about manufacture choice though

Why would they develop a different clutch for the iX then? It's a lot of money to spend when they could have just used the standard 325i clutch? Just a thought.

It´s just a different part number.
It will have different springs or something similar to that.
With great challenges comes great engineering.
