Picture take in "Windmill Lane" in Dublin..... home to U2 studio & lots of graffiti :D :D . 28,000 miles only winkeye . I bought it from a little lady that worked for BMW dealer in the UK. She had it from new and only used it on sunny days etc. When her partner died she sold it as it had too many memories. Its got indigo blue leather

Ask the same question to the purists a few years down the line.

No seized brakes here. The car lives in a dry warm garage but is driven every weekend if its dry. And I use it with the roof down. Nothing like a cold winters day in a convertible with the heat blowing from the dash 8) .

@ hazd31......... I'm at that lovely age in my life where I can afford toys. Whether I use it or not is academic. Its an appreciating asset. I paid £5,000 sterling for it but have been offered €9,000 euro for it here.

You are assuming UK values. I'm in Ireland. The import duty on a 318i convertible is around €1200 euro. I had a very happy customer that paid my import duty for me as I had just secured a settlement of €250,000 for him. 8) 8) . The price is not important.... the A1 condition and perfect leather is what counts. I did not want a 120,000 miles example with worn cloth seats I wanted a timewarp toy.

Well said, a mint cab, in original condition will fetch strong money. Engine size is not a major aspect which will affect its value.

Thanks for your comment. You are correct about engine size as well. A convertible should be viewed as a car to take a relaxed cruise in 8) . If you want to go fast then buy a toyota glanza turbo.

Exactly like my sterling silver L plate 318i Lux, but mine's got a sky high 62k! :(

Maybe I should consider selling this in Ireland?

Anyway great pics Luke, they've inspired me to keep mine mint and cherished :)

The whole engine size myth really does not apply to convertibles. I have made the point several times before that convertibles are for gentle driving on good days. They were never meant to be pushed hard. They rattle & shake like skeletons having a wank in a tin box if you drive them hard. I like to waft along so people can see the condition of the car 8) 8) 8) . The bit I like is when spotty youth in a jap crap import comalongside at traffic lights and dribble down their tinted windows while looking at the bmw winkeye winkeye

Fuzz, I am in constant awe of your acerbic wit.

How you manage to make being a such a miserable negative soul look cool is beyond me.

But well done!

thanks. it taken years of practice although it was intended as a pointless lighthearted comment and not a negative slight. perhaps a smiley at the end would have made it clearer..

Usage of emoticons is a slippery slope Fuzzy.

Best to stick to the usual total and utter cynicism expertly cloaked in vague prose devoid of any emotion.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. I would really like to keep the car in mint condition. In the longer term I hope another like minded person will get it and keep it like I have.

I'm with you Luke. As a youngster in the '80's I seriously wanted a cab, but they were only for the very rich and famous at the time. Now I can afford my 30k mile 325i cab, and its my toy. Just looking at it is enough, driving it is a bonus! It's a garage king!

First dibs - you heard it here first!

Dude, I will look after it, I have an indigo interior car myself.

I lived in spain in 1990. Near Puerto Banus in the hills is a little town called Benahavis. I was pushing my eldest daughter in her buggy when I saw an E30 convertible parked with the roof down 8) . Like you I felt that only the rich & famous could have one. Now I have my E30 and a home in spain 8) . There are some benefits to being 48.

Cool Luke, similar Story! We're still living in the 80's! Just dusting down the 325 is a pleasure, can't believe its mine, even though todays values actually make it "small change" in a way!
What we paid for our cars is a bargain, all that 5k for a 4pot talk is just a moment in time. Enjoy!

I paid £5G for my 318iS over 11 years ago during my final year at Uni.

It had 50,000 on the clock. I've had it since and it still feels special, more than any M3 or Alpina could - because I had it through my 20's, the magical times. If I got hold of a rarer car now it wouldn't mean much because it can never live in those times.
Aaah, I remember my first 360 down the A40 like it was yesterday... 8O

Thanks lennerd. I intend to leave her standard as she is. Although I think that front spot lights will go on to replace the blanks. There was a complete tech 2 body kit for sale here in Ireland recently in perfect condition. It sold for near €600. I was advised against putting it on my car as she was so perfect.
