well the problem is i can hear a tappy noise when i rev the car to about 2000 onwards,what do u reckon could be the problem,causing this,

hi guys ive bought a e36 318is as a runaround while i look for another e30,dont shoot me

you won't get shot indy. some zoners have Fords or Toyotas as runarounds!
very difficult to diagnose without actually hearing it in person, but my E36 iS had a noise at around 2k, but it was more of a rattle and turned out to be just the exhaust heat shields, with the usual corrosion/wear around the fixing screws.
it's always worth getting a free check from Kwik-Fit. just don a blonde wig, stick your chest out and grizzle: "i think there's something wrong with my exhaust". she'll be up on the ramps in no time!

im looking for another e30 now anyway so im gona sell the e36
