Cover under steering wheel - fixings

Think the garage broke this when I had it serviced when I bought it and they reset the service indicator. Started to sag around the clutch peddle. Got really bad when I removed it to check the ECU for a chip then came to the crunch when I tried to change gear to pull away at a roundabout and got my foot stuck

Finally sorted it this morning by tying some string through the small hole about the clutch pedal round the cylinder above then tightening it against the nut that projects to the left at the back of the clutch pedal.

Will post a pic when I get the chance....

But what fixings should there be? There seems to be one missing under the steering column where the standard twist fit screws just pop out, and the hole about the clutch pedal which I can't see what the fitting should be.

HELP!!! Not sure how long the string will last and it totallly messes up the driving when you're worrying about getting ya foot stuck

there are two clips it slides into. one is a plastic part at the bottom of the steering column, the other is made of three 'fingers' on the bulkhead above the throttle pedal

Cheers mate will have another look next time I have it off

I know one of the fingers is broken at the peddle end but will have a look for stuff it can clip into - was figuring BMW couldn't have engineered something so poorly and I must be missing something!!!!
