Hi,

I think I need to replace my rear topmounts on my 325 as its got a bit of a donk from the rear. Does anyone know where is best to get topmounts from? I've read that the standard E30 and general 3 series replacements are not all that good so are there any sensible upgrades available or are the OEM best?

Also if i'm doing this then it may be a good time to replace the shocks. I can't really afford to do them all yet so would it be possible to replace the rear shocks only with bilstein b6 dampers and continue using the original springs for now? Will this cause any problems with running original front shocks and would it offer any real benefit?

Any advice would be good as i've never really delved into the depths of suspension before.

Cheers

A lot of people, including myself use the E46 cab rear mounts as they are a bit tougher than the E30 items. I also used a pair of Z3 reinforcement plates.

If you want to go aftermarket than ireland engineering is one place to try....

Go to E30>performance>suspension & steering...

E30 M3 Convertible are the best. More expensive, but worthy.

Just the E46 GENUINE cab mounts will be more than adequate! Directly interchangable with the OE E30 mounts, and almost identical in appearance.

Thanks for the advice. Seems like Genuine is the way to go as usual.

Anyone know about the shocks? Is it worth going for B6 Bilsteins or am I better off going for the standard B4s?

New B4s will be a vast improvement over knackered 100,000 mile+ anything.
I'm just fitting new B4s to my daily driver, and was quite shocked how easily the dampers I took off could be compressed, in spite of the car apparently handling fine.
