gonna get some new tyres before the weekend

front ones are worn p6000s and need replacing , back ones are ok and lots of tread and il put them on the front for now

so whats a good choice ? as im new to rwd and its winter, i need to make the right choice here, gotta be tyres that last and good all rounders, but nothing stupid money, as theres lots of stuff i want to buy at the moment ! as close to say £100-120 odd for the pair would do me if pos, or cheaper if not crap !

Toyo Proxes T1-R are a good tyre and they come in at around £60 fitted if you phone around. Blackcircles.com has them for £65 fitted but I reckon you could haggle and get them cheaper.

The T1R feels soft and I doubt its best feature is mileage. Toyo do Snow Proxes for best winter/wet weather grip. In an E30 you want a tyre with traction not one that lasts a long time.

I`ve got the T1R proxes aswell they cost me £50 a pop had them for 18 months and they are still going strong and grip really well in the the wet unless i go abit doo lally and drop it a cog on the corner and boot it......o wot fun!!!!!!

I've always rated Proxes and fitted a set of 215/40/17's to mine (cos it was £280 for 4 from Camskill, and fitting was free through a friend).

Little did I know they aren't up to 320 brake and aren't particularly good.. If I was on a budget, they'd be the first thing I'd consider though to be fair.

When I wear them out I shall be going for something a little more premium methinks. The wet is a bit of a nightmare at the moment!

205/50 R15 is my favorite size but the purists prefer 205/55s as they are "original fitment" and give abit better ride.
I just think the 50s provide far better handling.


As for tyres... Get the best you can afford for the front. P6000s are awful tyres so its good they are getting thrown away.

You can't really go wrong with T1-rs. Ok they don't last quite as long as other tyres but if you aren't canning it through every roundabout or down every country lane, they should last a good while.

Tyres make or break an E30 so its worth getting good stuff or you'll end up in a ditch or under a truck.

I really like toyo t1-r, I've had them in plenty of sizes on the m3, 215 40 17, 215 45 16, 235 40 17, and at the moment 225 45 16. All have worked well, and given as much grip in all conditions as 'premium' brands, they don't last quite as long, but tyre life isn't bad. I tend to get a bit over a year out of fronts and about a year from rears, mainly due to running a staggered setup and not being able to rotate wheels. I also do a lot of miles and most of it is on twisty roads driven enthusiastically.

I do tend to find they need a little more pressure in them than other tyres to feel at their best.

Toyos at around £50 are cheap and grippy. P6000s cost twice as much. I'd get Toyo T1Rs all round and change them when they wear out. If you come off the road and damage the car £200 on tyres will seem cheap.

if they do them in the right size, i'd get some fk452's.

I've just had 2 Falkens put on mine for for £130 , been really impressed with them. Glad you mentioned hte brand now KOS as I am assured they are as good as the garage said to me.
